Honestly, I wasn't much different. Although at some point along the way I ended up buying the games for PC. I had pretty much all of them up until maybe 2006. I still buy them but very rarely. I have NHL19 for the PS4. I honestly think it's become a younger kid's game. The controls are just exacerbating. I want to skate, skate faster, pass, shoot, hit, and sure - let's add poke check. But God. Skill stick. Deke. Spinorama. Drift & release. Hold. Fake shot. Slap pass.

Now if I play on anything other than easy I lose (I might outshoot them 30-5, but I'll lose 2-0), and if I play Easy I win 18-0.

Same.

I struggle to beat my 12 year old son. The controls have passed me by.

Also, the game just has too much in it now. All I really want to do is play hockey once in a while. I have NHL 08 on my old PS3 and I really don't need more than that.

That was Civilization for me. I could lose days.

Did the Germans just threaten me?

I will build Tanks and crush you, you loser Ostrogoths!

. . . and there goes a weekend.

Hell ya.
The best was you use the cheat code to build the armed mustangs.
Great game.

That and Superpower. Graphics were basic but the strategy and details were great.

Goldeneye was the source of many a fight between my friends and I.

No oddjob, no siberian special forces, no screenwatching on a 26" CRT televions

I have the latest for the XBox. It's...ummm...for the kids. Yeah, that's it.

I play with "classic controls."

- Atomic Wedgie

I don't remember what the controls are but if you need anything other than pass shoot and hit, you're trying too hard.

Tried playing it again a couple of years ago, the control schemes are atrocious.

Goldeneye, zelda, tony hawk pro skater, mario 64, mario party, and waverunner were my go to games

I loved 4 person mario party

Well when they added the "skill stick" thing. You needed to learn that to perform in the game.

It took some time but I'm now a big fan of it.

Wasn't a big fan of the RNG elements (seriously, I'm moving next to the guy with a 85% chance of hitting him and I miss? (frank) YOU GAME).

But other than that it was great.

I've learned to be very humble about my own skills, despite having plenty of experience in pretty much every game type there is.

But I'm sure I could make it interesting for ya.

But to be fair, the only FPS I currently play on a regular basis are Counter-strike: GO and Overwatch.

perfect dark is significantly better. to this day i don't get why more games don't have wacky secondary modes on all the guns.

Damn this convo is making me want to skip out on work and go home to play some vids.
And by vids i mean nhl15, assassins creed series and Transformers cybertron on my ps3.
Cause i am way behind on gaming consoles.

My kids live a tough life....no ps4, xbox or switch.
Just ps3 and wii. Poor bastards.

I played the Original, years ago and loved it. The number of times in the original - climb to the second floor to look out a window. Except there's an alien right there. And your guy aims like he's been drinking all week, and he's blindfolded himself to make it more sporting.

I have all of the new ones now, and they are fantastic as well.

I'll admit that I do have to use cheat codes sometimes to make the game a little easier.

True Wedgie story I'm not allowed to tell anymore:

For our first pregnancy, my wife had preeclampsia (dangerously elevated blood pressure). It was so bad she was ordered to leave work for her 3rd trimester.

Great idea in theory, but my wife is a type A workaholic. So she needed something to do while she was basically forced to sit in bed or on the couch.

She discovered Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The added bonus of that game was the soundtrack: fantastic 80s music.

So every day, I would come home to see my very pregnant wife sitting on the couch, playing the game, driving around (she liked to stay in the car so she could listen to the music), shooting innocent people with assault rifles and flame throwers and poop.

It was about the weirdest thing I had ever seen.

You ever see a pregnant woman chase a guy on a golf cart and then beat him to death with a driver?

I can't unsee it.

Ever.
