unbelievable how much tech has changed.

... and then I imagine all those physicists working on the Bomb with a mechanical calculator that had known errors that they had to account for

Today everyone has far more powerful computers in their pocket then they could ever dream of.

They're still useful if you need the performance, but most people are happy with laptops these days.

Did you stand in line and wait and then they called your name and they didn't have what you ordered, but something similar they could offer you instead

great memories, I played "NHL Hockey" for genesis on a demo kiosk, it was the first on they came out with before the switched to the NHL 94, 95 etc.. I immediately traded in and sold off everything I could to get a genesis and that game. and bought it every year it came out on launch day for about 7 years.

Warcraft, and later Starcraft were the poop... but I left them all for Everquest. That game literally took over my life for about 4 years.

My claim to fame was that I beat the #1 guy on the Battlenet in Starcraft (I), only once, but I have the screenshot. I was hammered. I never was able to beat him again.

Marner hasnt signed:
- Some people are "Grrr hate him trade him"
- Others - Meh not too worry as no other RFA has signed, lots of time left.

Willie:
- 2 people - "grrr hate him trade him"
- willie wives - "OMG I love him, he's gonna get 75 to a million points, he so good cause he played well against Norway and Italy" He'll be a leaf for LIFE!!!
- Most others - hopefully he had an off year last year, should get back to 60ish points, don't care he changed his number. Whatever helps.

Dubas:
- A couple of people - "grr hate him fire him"
- most others - "why the hate?"

2020 RFA's
- Haters - "you are gonna lose all your RFA's next year...haha you suck"
- most people - "meh, will see and worry about it next year"

I think that pretty much covers what the past 3 weeks of hockey talk has consisted of.
A little geek out talk about old PC's......not a bad change.

I am trying to to remember the book that told the story.

I think it was by Richard Feynman, Surely You're Joking.

Fantastic book. The guy was a genius.

Damn, that's crazy!

I played plenty of Warcraft 2 and 3. Never was that good at Starcraft despite loving the game.

My first MMO was Ultima Online. Played the crap out of that game. Didn't really get into another one until WoW came out.

My first computer was a gateway in the mid 90s. Other than that, I know nothing about the specs. My first computer of my own was a Dell in early 2003.

Leisure suit larry
Sid meirs Pirates
and of course the OG SimCity.

Warcraft II on Kali..

https://www.gamespot.com/...of-darkness/1100-6144203/

Zug Zug

I played WoW also after Everquest (although I went back to Everquest many times over the years)

Got up to a level 80 Mage and Priest. NE female priest had a full Epic 1 set.

It got to be too much time being in a raiding guild.

I do remember

In a remarkably rare case of proper proactive behaviour, I called ahead. I don't remember precisely where it was. I lived down at Bathurst & Queen, and I think the CD was up on Bloor near Bathurst - but I don't remember, it was 25 years ago. I just remember when I called and she said they had 3, I jetted up there (by Street Car, baby) and got one.

I see some people being stupid about Marner.

But many are just saying trade the guy if he wants too much money.

Just like Nylander wanting 8...it’s something that needs to be done in a few months this time.
