That jump from 300 to 1200 to 2400 to 14.4k . . . and then I think we skipped the 28.8 and went to the 56k modem. With our 10G hard drives and an upgraded 8GB of RAM. Original Nerd Gangsta.

8G of ram was not possible in those days. It was 8 MB.

I bought my first computer (as opposed to my parents buying my IIc) in about 1994 or 95.

At the time, it was $55 per meg of RAM.

I bought a no-name brand from some warehouse in Markham. 4MB.

A few months later I had to drop $220 for an additional 4MB, because you needed to have 8MB to play EA NHL94 (or 95).

It's the reason why anybody born in '88 is a nazi
- TheMussel

Harsh, but I know you're kidding.

In my travels, I've that a good chunk of people born from 87 -89 seem to be on the douchie side. Not all of course.
Not scientific by any means, but just an observation.

Side affect of Max Headroom and the launch of new coke maybe from a few years before .....poisoning the mind of adults?

Dunno.

Yes sir!

Compaq presario 486.

Which we added a CD-ROM player on a few years later.

Also added 8megs of ram so we could play warcraft on it.

Good times.

- Scabeh

Hah! Same... had a 486 that I played Warcraft II on it. Cases Ladder was the "league"

My Amiga 500 came with 512K installed, but you could upgrade it to 1MB. The 512K of RAM itself was $800, and the expansion board was $49. When it arrived I discovered that I needed to install the RAM on the board myself.

Yup. Although when I started high school, they had these PCs that ran Watcom Basic - a language developed at the University of Waterloo - I think the PCs were called Icons, but I can't find any evidence of that.

You're right. My mistake.

I think our first Apple was defaulted to 48k and we upgraded to 64k. It was a whole card that slotted in to add 16k.

WOW!, I remember buying a 4MB stick for the 486 because I was upgrading to Win95. It was 110 or something.

I used to buy components in Markham and build computers for people I knew. I think the places were Greytech and some other name I can't remember just down the road on Woodbine. Then Canada Computers opened up and I started going there.

I bought a Sega Genesis (at Consumers Distributing!) to specifically play NHL 94.

Marner hasnt signed:
- Some people are "Grrr hate him trade him"
- Others - Meh not too worry as no other RFA has signed, lots of time left.

Willie:
- 2 people - "grrr hate him trade him"
- willie wives - "OMG I love him, he's gonna get 75 to a million points, he so good cause he played well against Norway and Italy" He'll be a leaf for LIFE!!!
- Most others - hopefully he had an off year last year, should get back to 60ish points, don't care he changed his number. Whatever helps.

Dubas:
- A couple of people - "grr hate him fire him"
- most others - "why the hate?"

2020 RFA's
- Haters - "you are gonna lose all your RFA's next year...haha you suck"
- most people - "meh, will see and worry about it next year"

I think that pretty much covers what the past 3 weeks of hockey talk has consisted of.
A little geek out talk about old PC's......not a bad change.
