Can you imagine NH and Booner in the same Tim Horton's parking lot posting on the last thread?
- A_SteamingLombardi

Blind Bay is on Shuswap Lake & he’s in Quesnel. That’s quite the drive for Timmy’s hook up lol

Yes thanks I do realize that, I was referring to identifying where there is a weakness and then communicating that you (Benning) would like to improve upon that weakness.

And if Markstrom does poop the bed, I'm not sure Demko will be ready for #1 responsibilities and Benning will state that he would like to improve, go out and acquire someone and I guess that will be frowned upon...I don't know I'm just trying to understand how saying you want to improve certain segments is a detriment.

This team was full of holes. Now, not so much.

Wifey & I are selling in Coquitlam & thinking of the Blind Bay area. Maybe doing a looky-loo trip that way the weekend after this.

Anything you can tell us to help us?

Blind Bay is Nice. There are some pretty decent homes there that are reasonably priced. Anything near the marinas along Blind Bay Road and just up from there have a fantastic view. That’s why so many make the migration up here. Shuswap Hawk has a nice ring to it!🤔😉

Markstrom is coming off of his best year as Canuck, while I don't think he's the long-term guy there isn't too much of a concern for me. He's grown with the young core and Demko appears to be on the right track to handle backup duties well. Might not be a position of strength but it doesn't really seem like an area for concern atm either given the guys in the pipeline and on the team right now. If he gets injured than yes, that would be a significant problem, but as of now I am confident he will play well based on what he has done.

I am also confident, I believe in Ian Clark.

I am asking how a GM communicating where areas of improvement are needed is deemed to be a failing for acquiring players. I only used the goalie position as an example.

Fair question/example. I think JB has plotted a course that has been a little slow for many on here. I get that. I think many of us knew a lot of the previous signings were stop gaps. At this point, he believes the kids have grown enough to compete. I would be surprised to see Sutter, Baer and/or LE shipped out in the next two months.

So you are saying he should just never communicate that there is a weakness that needs improving, keep the door closed and pretend all is rainbows and lollipops....awesome.

Gawd I sure hope that if Markstrom poops the bed and is the worst goalie in history, he just states all is good with our goaltending, no plans on improving anything on the team...wouldn't want to be proactive with identifying areas needing improving upon.

- Makita

No, I don’t care if he ever spoke to the media, he would probably be better served if he didn’t...

How about not saying what they weren’t good at (spoiler alert, everyone already knows). How about simply saying we are trying to get better, we think player X is going to accomplish this. By continually having to tell the fans how fast Beagle is makes me think he is a one dimensional player.

The Canucks were in desperate need at almost every position. I thought he was implying the Jimbo was following trends in the NHL rather than just following his own plan which seems to differ from year to year, from we're still a playoff team, to we are staying competitive on the fly, to we are retooling as we develop, to the re-build is over and I'm trading 1st round picks to load up for a playoff run.

I'm going to have a hotdog with my new bff Pacificgem, he gets it.

Because he only identifies these areas when he sees what someone else had success with. That’s the thing that needs fixing. He saw Beagle win a cup, wanted to surround the young players with quality veterans to shelter them, and brought back the worst D in the league. Why did he wait until this season to make a change there? Because St. Louis D were all big, now we signed Myers... coincidence?

Thanks for replying, I guess I understand a bit better on your stance.

Although I think if Benning was coy or aloof with the media the made up speculation would be 10 times worse.

Again, I can now understand what you were getting at, personally I no issues with identifying and communicating their direction.

Yeah, I get Vintsy position now, it's all good. I have my fingers crossed for this upcoming season, otherwise you guys will get your "kick Benning to the curb" desires.

PacificGem likes hotdogs.. I pegged him as a Philly cheese steak guy.

Maybe that played a part. But we have needed right shot D for a while now why Myers was a target. Plus JB likes big mobile D he picked and praised Tryamkin. He's still hoping now he comes back.

The Gudbranson trade demonstrated that. Miserably demonstrated that. His pro scouting has proven atrocious for the most part and is even more appalling when it comes to assessing D men. We'll see.
