True on all counts. Unlike in the few years past we are filling needs and not blindly going after guys like LE. To me, this is a good thing. There is a difference between chucking cash at UFA's and filling needs/gaps in the line up. Despite the detractors, Benning had a great offseason even if we did lose the 1st rounder. - LordHumungous
Unlike some, I was fine with the draft and watched pick enough to really like the kid.
I Gove Benning an A so far this off-season and if he dumps Loui to Siberia he gets an A+++. |

I improved on that. By the time I post 3 or 4 times and no one else is posting, I figure it out. Not like Pressy who completes his whole days posting in the old thread.

It does give Pres the last word though,

Speaking of the last word, I really should get to bed earlier. |

Maybe that played a part. But we have needed right shot D for a while now why Myers was a target. Plus JB likes big mobile D he picked and praised Tryamkin. He's still hoping now he comes back. - NuckUp

Nice, where and when? I’m mid September...Paris, Lisbon, Lagos (I rented a yacht for 5 days), Seville, Barcelona and San Sebastián. Also have another 5 days for somewhere random in Spain which haven’t been allocated - CanuckDon
Mid Oct to first of Nov. Fly to London, then to Barcelona. Off to Rioja (Logoño), through Ribera del Douro and finish in Madrid.

Canucks needed to get bigger. They just did. Not because St. Louis is big. Because Canucks needed it. Canucks needed to get grittier and faster in the bottom 6 and they did. Not because The Caps had that kind of depth.... because the Canucks lacked it.
What a weird way to think. Canucks addressing needs is not a coincidence because teams winning the cup have more of this and that over the team. I think JB wants to build a team that can make the playoffs first. Talk about Narratives.
- boonerbuck
So it’s just a coincidence that after one team has success that’s the particular thing the Canucks need to improve upon, and they make several changes in that one specific thing, ignoring all the other important aspects where they are also lacking?
Your narratives are wearing thin. |

The fact that you might actually believe that he only thinks they way you claim he does is concerning.
He's got to tell you something otherwise you won't know what's going on with the team. |

The Benning detractors 'Narratives' are 'we want the team to fail so we can prove to everyone that we were right'
- LordHumungous
Certainly seems that way sometimes.
As been mentioned there are 2 sides. The lovers or the haters. Even though also mentioned there are a lot in-between them.
Just how you view things.
Maybe i've viewed things how i've wanted too. For me, it was always going to be about draft and develop. Adding pieces when the opportunity presented itself because that would seem like the smart thing to do and obviously it's the NHL not everything works out in your teams favour all the time. There were certainly going to be rough times ahead.
Maybe being a millennial, I don't need my hand held as much as others.
In all fairness, I know that everyone wants to see the team win but it's the people that seem to be stuck on mistakes because for some reason they think they could have done better. |

I know I am not a Benning lover . I do think he has learnt the job and is now getting a lot better at it. There definitely was warts but this is not the only team that has ever had these problems.
Every year there is 10 teams in the bottom 10 of the league . It was our turn and this year I think we will be out of that club.
I think bringing in another GM at this point is ridiculous.

Team is going to need to have more success this season than last to save his job. (obviously)
I do like what Jim has built from the prospect pool. I also think he has set enough in place below him, that it would continue without him.
I would like Jim to finish off what he started and bring this team it's first cup but if he isn't able to accomplish it soon. He will be replaced.
Tough business being a GM. Winning a draft lottery would have been nice, |

Extended, I don't think he will get let go this year. |

I don't think it should come down to that.
I think if we move up 5 spots then it is a successful year. Playoffs would be nice but my benchmark is improving 5 spots.
We are getting better and we are getting closer to good teams. |
