This is not a double post, I'm still laughing from the 1st time reading that. - Marwood
And if only Benning had interviewed TG and asked him what do you see for the D? he would of heard Green say it's complicated and it's hard for most to understand so just get me players that see it. |

It's all good! The Canucks have matched their franchise record of consecutive years without the playoffs but by trading away more draft capital and putting us in a precarious cap situation moving forward we might just make it!
Nothing to complain about for sure with Skipper running the boat! - golfingsince

Hey man, I'm just a whiner who won't join the 'there's nothing wrong crowd'.
They've made 3 good draft picks and might have finally made a decent trade and the UFA signings aren't as bad as they have been in the past, so really I'm pretty excited about the accelerated changes. I also look forward to the new players exceeding their already very high expectations. The schedule helps. - Marwood
yeah, not sure I believe you are being sincere...
But then again look how Nucker has done a 180. |

There seems to be more of a common factor then recent seasons that the players assembled now have something to prove as a personal motivator.
The young core, like EP, BB, Hughes, Boeser, Horvat, that they are stars in this league.
The top vets like, JTM, Ferland, Peason, that they are top 6 forwards and Myers, Edler, Stecher top 4 D.
The depth vets, like Beagle, Leivo, Sven, that they belong and can make a difference.
They are not the LE type that are here to collect a check and be handed top minutes.
These personal motivations if steered right can make a good team. |

Can you imagine NH and Booner in the same Tim Horton's parking lot posting on the last thread? - A_SteamingLombardi
I improved on that. By the time I post 3 or 4 times and no one else is posting, I figure it out. Not like Pressy who completes his whole days posting in the old thread.

Because he only identifies these areas when he sees what someone else had success with. That’s the thing that needs fixing. He saw Beagle win a cup, wanted to surround the young players with quality veterans to shelter them, and brought back the worst D in the league. Why did he wait until this season to make a change there? Because St. Louis D were all big, now we signed Myers... coincidence? - 1970vintage
Canucks needed to get bigger. They just did. Not because St. Louis is big. Because Canucks needed it. Canucks needed to get grittier and faster in the bottom 6 and they did. Not because The Caps had that kind of depth.... because the Canucks lacked it.
What a weird way to think. Canucks addressing needs is not a coincidence because teams winning the cup have more of this and that over the team. I think JB wants to build a team that can make the playoffs first. Talk about Narratives.

This is the literal storyline of every team, this or "have to prove they still got it". You're not wrong to point it but it does seem a little hacky.
take this story and apply it to 30 other teams and I'm guessing it fits. Players always got something to prove. EP isn't proving he's a star at this point, he's proving last year wasn't some fluke and he is still a star. Bit of a difference, but also a really common narrative.

He's said it many teams, speed and skill but with guys that can play playoff hockey. It's been what he said he was building for the past three years. This year is kinda starting to look like the type of team he's been talking about. |

Well he certainly wasn't here which makes Jimbo look pretty stupid. Can't assess the talent (or lack there of) on his own team and piss poor at assessing it on other teams.
Which one is it? - Marwood
In the playoffs with Pittsburgh with the likes of Letang, Schultz, Dumoulin and Johnson and you're telling me he should have succeeded here with Edler Tanev Stecher and Hutton??
You're blaming Benning for that?

Gudbrandson has also come out and said Canucks run a very complicated D. It is unlike anything he has seen on other teams. - VANTEL
Also true and when your run support is Edler-Tanev and Stecher Hutton do the math. Then when they were all injured at least he got to play with Biega and Del Zotto |
