Emergency recalls aren't a thing prior to the deadline. You get all the callups you want. But they need to come from the minors, not the CHL. With junior players, I believe you can only call on them once, prior to the DL.
- TheSabresTaco

The entire Byzantine CHL structure needs to be blown up. Between this and the fact that 1st rounders can't play in the AHL is dumb. Why not just institute cash transfer payments to allow players to move to the A?

Top 10 picks: $100k
First round: $75k
Second round: $50k

Etc etc. It has to be the worst system in pro sports

Not sure where this comes from. For the past 1 and a half seasons, he's been playing at a high pace. Started last season at a 64 point pace through two months.
- TheSabresTaco

Doesn't Sam start slow every year?

2 goals in the first 21 games last year - less then a 8 goal pace thru 1/4 of the season

2 goals in the first 17 games the year before

That's not accurate. Emergency recalls are a thing all season. For starters, those players do not need to go through waivers and don't require a 23 man roster spot.

Guhle was absolutely an emergency recall, and they could have called him up multiple times.

None, in this sense. It's just dumb and totally nonsensical to have a system where you can't control your own player's movement/development. Incentivize revamping the system by putting money in the CHL owners' pockets. I get that there's a loss of gate revenue for them, but setting cash payments high enough would more than offset that loss

They have a minor league system, in which most teams are affiliated with an MLB team in some way shape or form.

The CHL is independent.

The sport of hockey as a whole has a development track that is unlike any other major sport.

I get that, but to say the system is worse than any other professional sport is disingenuous. No other sport has to even contend with it to begin with.

Unlike the 2017-2018 season in 2018-2019 Sam was still racking up points

His goal scoring is usually a little slow but last year he was at least collecting assists which he wasn't doing the start of the year prior.

I don't worry too much about him not scoring goals as he is a playmaker

But when he wasn't doing either there was some cause of concern.

If he starts this season like last I will be fine with it even though I'd like a few more goals from him to start the year.

He spent 2 year in jrs that’s his first time being against people with talent he came from a Area where there is zero people that have made it to the next level or any level he has accomplished

Needs at least one more year and focus on his body to get stronger and be ready for the next level and he hast to improve his hockey IQ Just make smarter place and don’t get over frustrated with the puck

2 others from YT - albeit they sucked.

But still more than from Delaware, Montana, Bahamas, Belarus, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Haiti, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Paraguay, South Africa, Taiwan and Tanzania.

According to that website at least.

Oh, and where you came from doesn't designate ones abilities to compete at certain levels; although I agree with you that he needs to bulk up, but so did Dahlin and he did fine

I'm just surprised there hasn't been more of a conversation about it. Cozens likely makes the team in '20-'21, but if he doesn't, he still can't go to Roch.

Come on, tpegs, buy the league and dissolve it! Botterill will be so happy

He comes from somewhere where there isn't NHL talent

That is such a terrible argument as to why he's not ready

The kid was a top 10 pick in a deep NHL draft but he's not ready because he's from the Yukon.

That's like saying Mogilny wouldn't be good because Russians didn't play in the NHL yet.

So dumb

No one has ever been the first person to do something.

I wonder if people had the same conversation about Scott Gomez. No one good has ever come out of Alaska!!!!!!
