No, players that are going to turn into real nhl players develop into the players they are going to be regardless of development by the team, the reason is in the end it’s the player that develops or dosent... the only person that has control over this is the player. the exception is if there is an injury that is not handled correctly.

Crosby was a great player because he worked his ass off and perfected his game... same as any other sport... players have control over how they develop.

Blaming teams is a bull poop excuse... they might slow the development but to say a guy no longer in the league would be great is a cop out.

I'm not sure the thumb injury would inhibit this one way or the other. It sounds like he will be ready for training camp. Perhaps conditioning would be a little bit of an issue, but other than that, he still sounds like he's in "either he has it or he doesn't" territory.
