I don't think he's millions overpaid, but no he wasn't close to Pastrnak in 2016-2017- & 2017-2018. Like .955ppg vs .7484ppg not close

Pasta and Drais went from 30 to 70. Nylander had 2 60 point seasons. See the difference?
- RogerRoeper

Pasta had a 70pt season followed by an 80pt season so no I'm not following...

Nylander will put up 65-74 points this season.

My thing with this guy is, What will he do in the playoffs?

Nylander needs to learn how to play "Playoff Hockey". The regular Season, is an entirely different animal.

He needs to play with an edge, go into the corners and dig for pucks--create his own space. If Nylander can play that way, he will be a steal at $6.9 Mill.

but i dont see him playing that type of game (The Pastrnak type of game)

The problem is all of the superstars on sweet deals makes it look like they are underpaid because it's hard to look back and see the cap as what it once was etc. Or the situations. Nylander coming off back to back 60+ seasons vs MacKinnon as an example (in a lower cap era) coming off 38 and 52 point seasons.

Yep.

I always hear "I can't believe X is making more than Crosby"

(frank) in todays cap Crosby would be getting 15 million.

Yes, Mcdavid and Matthews are underpaid.

They actually weren't that bad.

Finished with 83 points. 11 points out of a playoff.

Sundin, Antropov, Kaberly, Blake, Steen, Kubina, Pony, Tucker, Stajan, McCabe, Wellwood, Ian Wihte, Hal Gill, then it starts getting dark.

- Atomic Wedgie

Is he the last 40 goal scorer on the leafs before Matthews did it as a rookie? Or did Blake score 40 with isles and got paid by the leafs?

I understand, but you didn’t use that argument. You used the 61 pt is equal to 70 points.. and I definitely wouldn’t use Draisaitl as a comparable in any manner, ever. That kid is a level above Nylander.

In fairness Pasta signed his deal before that 17-18 season.

Crosby is a weirdo that probably has 87 tattooed on his Richard.

You're saying that now because of the season he just had. I am talking about when they signed their deals.

Can't wait to see what people say about Willy next year.

After taking MacKinnon and Marchand under his wing, I'm surprised nobody else is clamouring to train with him. He basically turned them both into monsters.

Pasta is severely underpaid.

He isn't a good cap comparable for anyone.

What does that have to do with anything? I'm not arguing about either contract and its value, what I'm saying is that Nylander did not have Draisaitl or Pasta numbers prior to signing.

That's fine, but I'm simply responding to numbers in terms of points, not contract

He did not have Pasta or Drai like numbers.
- RafiDRW

Pastrnak: 123 points in 172 games = 0.715 PPG
Draisaitl: 137 points in 191 games = 0.717 PPG
Nylander: 135 points in 185 games = 0.729 PPG

100% - but again, this whole conversation originated over a debate about point totals, not contract dollars

Let me assure you:

Jason Blake never scored 40 with the Leafs. He had one season with the Islanders where Yashin banked 40 shots off his ass - and then JFJ signed him in a desperate hope to preserve his job.

He played 3 seasons with the leafs, with goal totals of 15, 25, 10.

Good question on the last guy to score 40.

My guess is Andreychuk.

Lemme google around.

I wonder who the last 40 goal scorer was. Sundin?

Those were some dark days post lockout.

Yeah. He worded that in a stupid way if he wanted to use a certain context.
