hmm yeah..so his is strange.
are you sure on that?
CF says SIGNING DATE: January 10, 2008 .. so the cap % on sportrac is probably more accurate as to when the contract was signed
wouldnt CF be higher if they used the current year and not when it started and the new established cap? - senstroll
CH% would be lower if they used the percentage based on the year it took effect, since the cap typically increases. So based off of a 79.5m cap, Matthews is at 14.634% cap hit; based off of an 81.5m cap, he's at 14.27%, or based off of an $83m cap, which is where it was going, it's a 14% cap. I thought that was the targeted number because that was Kopitar's number, and if I recall correctly, he was a guy that Matthews said he likened his game to. |

Huh...I don't think they're similar players at all. I thought Kopitar to be more rounded and play a superior 200ft game, but score less goals and probably less points if Matthews was healthy
Edit: he scores less anyways
Except that monstrous 2017-2018 season |

Only team that would do that would have no capable defender to be on the PP. Only team that fits the bill is the Oilers because Klefbom and Nurse are just decent at that (Bear hasn't proven he can do it at the NHL level). - AdamFrench
i guess the Flyurs tried it a bit last season.

I feel bad for Kopitar. He has to play with a 5000 year old Dustin Brown and a 4th line rookie Iafallo. |

All very true...Too bad they couldn't retool on the fly with that core. They just got so old so quick. poop, look at Doughty's contract. Does anyone want to willingly take that on after the year he just had? I expect him to bounce back a bit, but to an 11 million defenceman? Not so sure
I don't even think that 8 year extension kicks in until this year too |

Chia is the worst General Manger the NHL has ever seen - Lucas.Neilson
I never knew all this until recently. its from Wikipedia, Jeff Gorton..so accurate?
anyways... Chia got a lot of Mileage from that cup win...but holy poop...give Gorton a ring also
In his time as interim general manager of the Bruins, Gorton most notably ran the 2006 NHL Entry Draft which produced for the Bruins Phil Kessel, Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand. At the same draft, Gorton traded goaltender Andrew Raycroft to the Toronto Maple Leafs for goalie prospect Tuukka Rask.[3] Raycroft was coming off a subpar season and his two-year stint in Toronto would prove disastrous, with the Leafs buying him out of the final year of his contract.[4] Rask, meanwhile, had been selected in the first round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by Toronto and went on to win the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender in the 2013-14 season.[5] On July 1, Gorton signed Zdeno Chara and Marc Savard as free agents. Chara would go on to win the Norris trophy in 2009 as the NHL's best defenseman while under the contract signed by Gorton.
On July 15, 2006, he re-assumed his assistant general manager duties when Peter Chiarelli was hired as permanent general manager. He was dismissed, along with respected scout Daniel Doré on June 27, 2007.[6] Gorton was immediately picked up as a Pro Scout by the Rangers. |

Mathews has not played a full season in the NHL. He needs to show that he can actually put up 120-130 points and win the art Ross to deserve this coin. Not just a projection off 70 points on what he may have gotten had he played a full season. - B-Wforever
Absolutely false. He played a full 82 game season in his rookie year. |

anyways... Chia got a lot of Mileage from that cup win...but holy poop...give Gorton a ring also - senstroll This is all well known by hardcore Bruins fans. We never really gave him any credit for our team. Although, some of the moves he made were instrumental. He was able to bring in Nathan Horton, Mark Recchi, Seidenberg, Peverley and Chris Kelly. Although, in one of those trades he parted with Blake Wheeler
Ultimately though, the core, which is what won the cup, was more or less put in place by Gorton. |

I read that a few weeks back and was floored. It was honestly the ONE thing I'd given Chia credit for. I assumed his previous relationship with Chara had gotten the job done.
Christ, Gorton even did the Raycroft for Rask deal.
I probably should give him credit for the Kessel deal, but really that was all on Brian Burke anyway. |

It’s pretty wild that an interim GM was allowed to make some of the decisions he did and how they are still positively affecting the franchise more than a decade later. |
