Someone pointed that out already and I gladly agreed with them...but then again is really signed for 2 years less? My math says 1.

I think JT and Matthews are going to be very happy with this

- Santo_44

Which is why I would love him to be on that first unit with Marner/Rielly feeding him

I don't like the way Cap Friendly calculates cap percentage. It bases it on the current year's salary cap even though that salary will not be paid out until the new cap is established. The negotiations, I would expect, are very much based off of cap projections and cap percentages.

If you sign after June xx when the new cap number is released, then the cap number is based on the adjusted cap value. So it's not always comparing apples to apples.

- Monkeypunk

Yes, my beef as well. Should always reflect the % of the cap year that it kicks in (not signed). That way it stays consistent.

I was just joking around about how Willie already played a year of his 6, whereas Meier is just starting his 4 year contract. I know you were talking about at the time of signing.

We'd like to misremember that Willie played last year.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

Nylander will be right with Marner in points this year.

But I agree with the PP time...but I think Barrie is going to help and the PP will be changed up this year.

- Santo_44

LOL good old summer. A few months ago Nylander was a greedy lazy perimeter player, 10 ply soft and his trade value plummeted. Now hes gonna come back and put up Marner numbers. Jesus christ

I doubt it though. A huge problem was PKs would smother Marner because they knew if the puck went back to Rielly there was no major threat. Now you can't leave that lane open or Barrie is going to either hit the back of the net or JT/Matthews will be all over it.

It will open up the whole PP.

Oilers may be able to free up some cap space due to LTIR.

You do realize that every Leaf fan doesn't share the same opinion right? You can look back if you want. I have never called Nylander greedy or soft. Stop spewing bull poop.

the PP runs from the side walls and they get shots from in close, they havent been running the PP that way.

Also I am interested to see who goes to 5 Forwards on the PP . Maybe the Leafs try it

They haven't because they couldn't.....

They didn't have a shot from the point. They haven't in a decade.

Only team that would do that would have no capable defender to be on the PP. Only team that fits the bill is the Oilers because Klefbom and Nurse are just decent at that (Bear hasn't proven he can do it at the NHL level).

At least they have a downtown arena, competent ownership, and team that isn't, quite literally, the worst constructed one I've ever seen.
