The Hasek trade was up there too. Even worse in hindsight.

Trading away Frolik was devastating.

Enough to pass Blues, Avs, Preds, Stars and Jets to get into the tournament?
- StLBravesFan

I understand you're playing other teams, but the battle is improving your own roster, you can't control what the other teams do. Do these moves make the Blackhawks team better than last year, i believe so. Is it good enough to make the playoffs, i guess stay tuned.

He was waived last year and no one picked him up for nothing....why would he be moveable next year?
- PatShart

maybe tyler can restate his comment about this earlier...that waive was late in camp when rosters were set...there was something else going on there and many of the players including duchene were very unhappy when that happened...

Perlini IS a prospect - maybe he hasn't exactly shown that he deserves to make the team, but he HAS shown some ability to be a contributing skater - yes, only in spurts, but let's see if he can put it together and become a consistent player.
- StLBravesFan

Agreed, jeez the guy is only 23 and came from the sinking ship called the Yotes. In Rockford he would be our #1 wing prospect based on physical skills. Yes $1.5M is more than a Rockford salary but that is where he is now salary wise. He has proven more than every player you can talk about replacing him with. WTF has Kubalik done in the NHL and he's the same age?

It is interesting to look back and what lineup we opened with last year too.

DeBrincat - Toews - Kahun
Saad - Schmaltz - Kane
Kunitz - AA - Kampf
Martinsen - Johnson - Kruger

Keith - Joki
Manning - Seabrook
Gus - Rutta

Ward
Forsberg

Injured - CC, Murphy, Forsberg
Scratched - Hayden, Davidson

I'm past the point of caring about Brendan Perlini but, has it ever been leaked at what the hold up is with him signing? I (we) assume it must be either salary/term or both probably.

IMO Perlini should look at the group of forwards that StanBo has accumulated and realize the Hawks are not waiting on him. While not a wealth of talent I bet there are several players on the roster that can replace Perlini more than adequately.

Hopefully Stan can find a taker for good ole' #11 to recoup that 2021 3rd we gave up for Shaw.

Nothing comes close to the Esposito trade as the worst in Hawks history.

Ogi has a red a white and a 2010 Winter Classic third jersey with Lalonde stitched on the back.

If not for Q that guy would have been a staple on the backend.

Wasnt Smith waived last year....with no takers?

And now hes the 3rd line C?

He should be battling New Q for the 13th F spot at best

- PatShart

He as waived last year when his contract was 3years a bit under 10 million while he was on a team with a cheap ash owner. We turned a 4.5 cap hit into 3.... cap hit and as someone pointed out earlier while not ideal a buyout in the event he can’t be moved would be 1.1 for 20/21&201/22

Do you think Bowman makes the trade if they both have the same cap hit?
- paulr

Valid question and I have no clue, but I doubt it.
So the Hawks got cap space and player with some tangibles that were lacking.
Seems fair
Looking forward to see opening night roster

I think most would consider the Esposito trade to Boston as a far worse trade made by the 'Hawks.

Esposito, Hodge, Stanfield for Martin, Marotte, Norris.

Arguably the worst hockey trade ever.

- Schlep

Not even close! I’ve read here countless times that the Panarin for Saad deal is the absolute worst in Hawk history, so by default it must be the worst in league history.

Doug Wilson for Kerry Toporowski was pretty bad.

Most likely for the same reasons he was moveable earlier this week.

Worst trade Chicago made sending Roenick to Winnipeg for Alexei .

Or belfour to San Jose for Ulf dahlen

- Taylorst1

Esposito to Boston is #1 worst ever.

Others worth mentioning:
1) Hasek to Buffalo for Beauregard and 3 days later trading Beauregard for Ruuttuu.
2) Trading Chelios to Detroit to make them better.
3) Doug Wilson traded to expansion San Jose, always liked Dougie.

Not the worst trade in Hawks history, but I was not a fan of JP Dumont + Doug Gilmour for Michal Grosek.

Which was of course followed by Brad Brown+ Michal Grosek for "Future Considerations"
