My data is reality not fantasy, how can you change history
oh we're at the Hawk hockey buzz site.
Missed offsides matter also, and I so wanted the 3peat if only
Stan could do the job he was hired to do - gazza53
Stan just didn't want it as much! |

Why Duclair 2.0 more so than Strome 2.0? - Assman22
I catch an air of entitlement from Nylander. I hope he turns into a Strome 2.0.
Strome himself has to show that he can do what he did over an entire season. I believe he faded along with several others towards the end of last season. |

Where did you catch this air of entitlement?
Agreed on Strome. Not sure why everyone wants to sign him long term already. Let this season shake out first. ADB has proved himself so I get the long term there, but not Strome. |

San Fran isn’t all bad, but it’s just not what it used to be. Very easy to stumble into bad areas that didn’t exist just a couple of years ago. Gotta be on your toes.
Seattle is my favorite West Coast city with SanDiego a close second, highly recommend both. Boston in the East. - Ogilthorpe2
Agree. My wife has never been to SF and wants to spend some time there. I could see a couple days in the city and then headed north or south down the coast.
CA’s coastline is beautiful but I like the stretch in OR better... |

Strome scored some points but still needs to work on his overall game. If he can be a bit stronger in the the middle of the ice and in his own zone, the Hawks can really start to just roll lines. |

Here's hoping it was part of the learning curve where an NHL player must accept the fact that the NHL season grind is real and those who star in the league are those who are fully prepared to do so. |

I take t as a positive that he is working out with the same trainer or skating coach Kane and some of the other guys are.
He’s a bit of a tall gangly kid who I would figure also gains some natural strength as he matures and his body fills out...kinda like Kruger. |

Good point. I think the trade to Chicago has given him the chance to start fresh and he realizes it. I remember a couple shifts where Strome cancelled out 1-2 defenders along the boards fighting for the puck and the Hawks converted on the chaos with goals. I hope we get to see more of that from Strome as he matures too. |

Still a long way from driverless cars and trucks taking over. Just wait until someone starts hacking into them. - Ogilthorpe2
Exactly. It’s alrwady been proven with the lock free homes.
And wasn’t there a crash involving a supposed automated car?
I’m with you on AA trade until I see strome prove it again. He should....but it’s far from a lock with little sample size |

I'm not worried about Strome. I will acknowledge that his time in Chicago has only been a small sample size but he's talented and motivated to excel for the Blackhawks. Plus, he is playing with his best friend and that can contribute to a player's success.
Not that this is everything, but I like what Stan has done as far as bringing personality and character back into the dressing room. I've thought that this team has missed the comradery it had during championship years. Shaw will help with that, so will DeBrincat and Strome. Hopefully some of the young guys can come up in small waves to help contribute as well. I can see that happening with Dach and some of the young d-men in the next couple of years. |

I must be in the minority here, I was in SF for 4 days in 2015 as a stopover to Hawaii. Hawaii was OK but I found it way overhyped. Friends are going back next year but I decided to pass. I would go to SF again in a heartbeat, mind you I also didn't see the homelessness that is there now. Never been to Seattle or Portland but they are on my bucket list. Most places in the U.S that I have been I really liked. The only place I in the U.S I didn't like and would never go back to was Milwaukee and not a huge fan of Florida but I also have no issues going back. - paulr
SF is a solid town. Like all big cities, it has it’s sketch areas of crackheads/homeless. Tenderloin and The Mission are the two areas to avoid. Crime rates are low, Mediterranean climate, upper 50’s-mid 70’s year round, zero bugs/mosquitoes, low humidity, countless outdoor activities, 3 hours from Tahoe for world class camping/snowboarding, 40 min from Napa/Sonoma, 1 hour from the Shark Tank, laid back folks for the most part, incredible views/sunsets, great parks and breweries, etc. |

Been out for awhile. Took the Napa to San Fran and Napa.
Chicago homeless problem vs San Fran/Bay Area homeless problem is the equivalent of an Elkins rumor vs tsn rumor. Until you see a human being take a dump on a sidewalk in broad daylight....you haven’t seen anything. Truly sad . Never have any desire to go near that sea again (Bay Area....)Napa—yes.
Not a fan of smiths cap hit. Think the missing of AA will hit the casual fan or those who undervalued what he brought.
Interesting to read JC mention “competition” regarding lehner and CC. I’m beginning to think they want to see if lehner “can be the guy” lt by giving him a split work load.
Rest of it.......
Hits do matter as forechecking is vital to success and laying “bodies” on people matter come playoff time. Nobody likes to sit there and take a physical beating but the good ones will wait to take a hit to make the smart play like a qb in the pocket waiting for a guy to open with a guy coming untouched on a blitz. The fear factor is what causes the turnover.
Prospect camp is fun....but how many of these kids make the show and/or are still here in a few years? Dominating other prospects doesn’t mean a thing until facing the best in the world.
Could care less on Perlini. If they move him for anything I’d take it. If they sign him...better be cheap and 1 year. Guy is way too inconsistent and when does inability to master mental strength outweigh any physical attributes? He’s a mental midget. Plain and simple. He’s impressive in small batches and maddening for a large majority. What is the common issue? He’s in his own head.
Outside of that....I my personal expectation is for the playoffs.
Oh.....the strome kid better be what we got and not what Arizona traded away in terms of his production for both teams. There is no legit #2 center on this roster to fall back on. And center depth means a ton otherwise why would the hawks realizing the true reason they lost in 2014 to LA was center depth and not leddy or a bs offside call target Richards in UFa. And why did Bowman the following year trade for a younger #2 in AA when he shipped out Saad. And exactly why he drafted the kid this year in 1st round.
It matters. A lot. But so does cap space....
If ogis McDonald’s have that menu....I’d become a customer again. - SteveRain
You could look at this 1 of 2 ways. One, at least the whole, "we have to sign strome and Cat" thing is now nothing to worry about. I think he will play well and have a 50-60 point year. If he is bad, this team will be playing cards with Minnesota preparing for next years draft. This central division is going to be one that you watch nightly if the teams are playing one another. I see Dallas winning the division, St.Lou and Chicago in the first round. WPG and Nash in the wild card spots. |

Allegedly he took an attitude when he was sent to the minors.
Now I think there may have been some injury involved also and it was the Buffalo Sabres who don't have a good track record on developing players but, still. He couldn't become a regular on a crappy Sabres team?
I hope he works out. I truly do. I liked his dad when he was a Hawk. |

Because another day means another line combination: This isn’t what I EXPECT to happen but rather something I’d be curious to experiment with:
Saad - Toews - Kubalik
DeBrincat - Strome - Kane
Smith - Shaw - Caggiula
Wedin - Kampf - Carpenter
That third line would be absolutely infuriating to play against, so I wonder if it could be something Colliton tries out - even though Shaw is best suited on the wing and Smith is more of a fourth liner than third liner. Also, something tells me that Wedin emerges as a nice defensive winger for the Hawks at some point this season (I think he starts the year in Rockford but gets called up relatively quick). |

Good morning Ogi,
I'm pretty sure Stan has another deal up his sleeve. Hopefully that will address the center position which is a little weak with the Anisimov trade. Which I hope it will make you feel better about the plan Stan has.

I'm really interested to see how the 3C role will shake out. Guys like Shaw, Kampf and Smith could be servicable 3Cs, although the would be better back-ups than primary options. I would like to see what Shaw can do on a line with ADB and Strome. |

Have been to SF several times and not a big fan. Agree with Ogi that SD and SEA are better. Seattle's my fave US city on the WC...headed out there today actually to visit my brother.
Portland is cool too, much smaller city. They have their own issues but if you want to do wine country, I like theirs better than Napa. Willamette Valley's a little less crowded and they produce fantastic Pinot Noir. - HawkintheD
Been to Seattle a few times, the city seems to be run by 20 to 30 year old s, it has a peace love vibe to it. The islands are beautiful as well but they as well have a homeless issue but their programs to help draw them away from the heart of the city. My only issue is if im walking i always feel like it's up hill there, get a good work out. |
