Wish I was serious. Risto and Mittlestadt count around 6.2 vs the cap and point would sign for 10ish, I would think? Buffalo could easily find the 4m in cap space if it came down to getting point. Trade Scandella, McCabe, Sobotka for late round picks or even with a late round pick for a lesser late round pick. I think buffalo would do it and would be a win win for both teams.

Wow Ek. I never imagined the Wings could be a destination for Point. I always thought the Wings might be a way for Tampa to create some cap space. So for example Yzerman takes on a contract like Palat or Killorn, and as compensation Yzerman extracts a prospect he likes from Tampa. That always made logical sense to me why these teams would be talking. But if your source is telling you Brayden Point is involved this is pretty huge news!!

Also interesting that your sources keep bringing up Ottawa and offer sheets. Would be pretty risky for them to give up any 1sts since adding Marner or Rantanen or Laine or whoever probably still leaves them in the bottom 10. Nobody else is reporting this so this could be a source that is just sharing with you. That's awesome to be getting a scoop like that ahead of Dreger and Friedman and MacKenzie and Lebrun.

Putting Hymen on the LTIR in hopes to sign Marner to the 12.5M he is asking for would still not give you enough cap to get it done and would only be a temporary move. What happens when Hymen is ready to return?

Trust me, I know that the trade is completley unrealistic since Larkin's contract is a steal. It's the only piece going back that would be any bit of sense if a trade were to happen for Point with the Red Wings. Just trying to emulate Ek when it comes to speculation and rumors

Maybe now that the Hawks shed $1.2M in the Anisimov for Smith trade, they are ready to kick of the RFA war this summer with that Rantanen offer sheet that Ek's Denver-based source told him about.
I'm still a little confused because the Hawks only have $3.3M in cap space, and need to add 3 more players to the roster. Maybe it's a sign and trade or something. But Ek wouldn't make that up if this is what his source was sniffing.
