So allegedly someone for the Athletic is saying the Penguins want a longer term deal with Petterson... and could be in the 3-4 mil a year range.
If he is a 2nd pairing Dman, that's great... if not, its another overpaid bottom pairing. But could this signal even more that JJ may be moved? - Guile
Yeesh. I like Pettersson, but I don’t know that’s he’s a #4 dman just yet. I’d still love to see a two-year bridge deal. |

While I am happy to have Galchenyuk given the circumstances GMJR was under. Just last year Phil was going to be traded for Max Domi. That truly would have been a perfect trade.
Then the Phil for Zucker trade... not quite as good as Domi but Zucker again would have fit the mold of the new identity the Pens are trying to build.
Looking at it that way, it kind of sucks we ended up with Galchenyuk....but I still have confidence he can score 25-30 next to Geno. |

Ok but why would Anaheim want to bring him in and block one of their other young budding stars on the wing? Rakell, Silfy, Kase, Terry, Sprong, Steel, Comtois. Anaheim is super higher on Steel, Terry, and Comtois than they were on Kase and we know how that’s turned out - WSCTeton17
Cause they also have a bad GM. |

Petterson at 4 mil a year for 4 years, or JJ at less for 4 years?
If this somehow gets JJ moved, I overpay Petterson on a heartbeat |

I never heard that Phil was in the discussion for Domi last year. As I recall Chayka was shopping Domi and we were offering Rust+ but were outbid by Galchenyuk. Galchenyuk lead the team in goals despite playing with Cousins. I don’t think Rust could’ve done the same |

The best part about the NHL is that there are a lot of dummies in charge. |

I'm surprised no one's chimed in that a one-way contract means he can't play in the AHL. Maybe people have finally figured it out? - jmatchett383
don't ruin it..... |

What exactly makes him a bad GM? I don’t think he’s a great GM but I wouldn’t say that his drafts, signings, or trade history has been bottom 5 in the league. The bigger problem I would say was when he canned Boudreau and brought back Carlyle |

I heard Borquey talking about how close the Kessel for Domi deal was. He's pretty well connected. |

Yeah Domi would have been sweet to get!
SHould have flipped Kessel when he had more value. Sucks trying to dump players after they peaked. |

He just had two back to back career years...its his NTC (or NMC whatever it is) that really f'd things for trading him. GMJR's hands were tied. |
