That's a lot of assumptions Matt lol but I get you. He's a star. I feel the same about Letang if he were from the 70s. I was refering more to the late 80s, 90s though. People would get away with much more.
- Barnaby36

The only things I assumed there were he'd dominate and get over 100 points a season... I mean, he did have 82 points in 82 games in 2015/2016 in the modern NHL...I dont think its too far fetched of an assumption he'd surpass those totals in the 70's.

Yes, with 1 piece solid wood sticks, the red line, gloves that came up to your forearms that limited puck handling, people that could clutch/grab/punch/slash you without any calls, and the lack of any sort of year-round fitness program aside from being an alcoholic and chain smoker.

Now, take EK today (or 4 years ago) with today's training and technology and yeah, he'd be unstoppable. So would most top-6 forwards and top-3 defensemen today.

Only way to evaluate different eras is by their peers, and Bobby Orr was hands-down on another level from his peers.

I agree with all that. I was saying if you took today's, or recent years, EK (with all of his training, knowledge and skill) and put him in the 70's he'd dominate.

ChrisMS pops in every blue moon but Ive seen him comment in other blogs or the main stories more often than the Pens blog.

I noticed that about a lot of Pens posters, they shy away from the actual Pens blog but post comments elsewhere on the site.

Absolutely. A lot of players would. Hell, take Ovechkin and put him in the 70s with all of his current training, skill, and technology today and he'd easily average over a goal per game.

But again, take away all of that and correlate for 1970 and he goes from God to generational talent.

He'll definitely do something. Maybe use the bathroom, tie his shoes, eat some breakfast...at least one of them, or something similar.

You put some GD respect on Palmer’s name.

What if he's constipated, dehydrated, at the beach and intermediate fasting?

Speaking of Palmer, how about Bobby Ryan's contract? Would he be worth a Jack Johnson/Patric Hörnqvist swap for him? I don't even know if he's doing well nowadays. Just wondering. His contract sucks.

It would only be 1.3 mill in cap savings...and then we have another winger, which we dont need, who's in his 30's and signed for 3 more seasons.

Pass on that.

Both Horny and Jacko have 4 years left each right?

Anyway, nowadays, Hörnqvist > B.Ryan anyway. (for the skill we need)

I wonder if all those RFA's are holding everything up? If teams don't know their salary structure yet, they can't trade for Rust or Bjug. Some teams could be waiting to grab better players in case someone needs to dump salary.

Would you like to see Bjugstad gone? I sure don't. I like his work as a 3rd line C. Affordable too.

No. I'd rather keep Bjug over Rust. Obviously would like to keep them both, but unless a miracle happens and JJ is moved, those guys are the obvious trade chips.

Off course JJ is the leading candidate in everyone's mind but personally I wouldn't even entertain a Bjugstad trade right now. Sounds crazy to me. I could see Hörnqvist being asked to waive his NTC and offered around before letting Bjug go. That's the route I'd go anyway.
