what were the odds of st. louis winning the cup last year? - Ftown19125
Most people had them in the PO's.
They just underachieved like crazy the first half of the season. |

Two years is too long for a 36 year old backup goalie. - Feanor
Maybe so. We'll see. Flyers will be in the market for a backup goalie again next year. |

Well it's a job that changes often in the NHL. Every summer more than a handful of teams are changing backups, not a big deal. |

Yes, I agree.
Last year was a perfect storm of suckiness. So many things went wrong from the goalies (which I think started a domino effect) to the regression of IP and SG, to the coaching debacle etc etc.
I think stability alone from a goalie and coaching standpoint will help tremendously. - MBFlyerfan
Yup. They finished 16 points out of the playoffs. It's a lot to make up in one year, but it can be done. |

I know. But sometimes there isn't any appealing options available. When you are easing a kid in to be a # 1, you'd like to have a reliable backup. |

If Hart falters then what? Elliot cant carry the load. If hart regresses in any way may be a very long year again. - daryl stanley
This is my concern. We can’t automatically assume Hart has a solid season, he has a lot to prove. So for Elliott to be the back up becomes more of a concern with his injury history. |

The backup for next year is the furthest concern of mine, stupid to talk about now. |

Yeah because having a 34 year old pretzel this year as the backup isn't anything to be concerned about. |

Interesting. #Flyers have signed Chris Stewart, who turns 32 in October, to a pro tryout. Last season he played in the UK. Was last in the NHL in 2017-18 where he started the season…you guessed it, in Minnesota under Chuck Fletcher. Could be a 3RW candidate.

Why is it stupid to talk about now? What’s a smart hockey topic on July 17th? |
