I don't subscribe to the Athletic. Is it worth it?

Well worth it. My only criticism would be that some of the hockey articles go over the top with statistical analysis. But the quality of writing is as good as you are going to get anywhere.IMO.

Good crop of prospects for sure. And why it was wise not to go crazy in signing long term UFAs. When all of these guys get to be full contributors, sign or trade for any missing pieces and watch the window for contention open.

Patrick breaks out, Frost and Farabee bust into the NHL sooner rather than later. There will be some expensive "spare" parts.

When Frost lays claim to 2C, Hayes will make a decent RW.

NO. It's not Bill. Stop sharing links to private/sub-only articles. Do you get a cut or something?

I think so. Charlie's analytics on hockey are slowly getting me to understand. Jayson and Peter Gammons on baseball. Not game stories much. mostly more indepth pieces, but not to the point of being longform writing. They just added golf and motor sports. so they are filling out coverage. and their soccer coverage for europe is top notch.

Can't believe Gene Hart has been gone 20 years already.

To all Flyers fans - good day, good hockey.

- copelal

To our younger fellow fans, this is ignorable.
Makes me want to cry.
Gene always had a smile and good words for everyone. His announcing style was singular, rarely critical of either team but always oriented toward US, The Flyers.
He had his time in the sun and he shone.

Yeah, but the revised plan is to spend to the cap, and figure it out in the future. may cost us some picks for other teams to take on large contracts like the Leafs had to do.

Who will be the first to sign, Macavoy, Werenski, or Provy. From the history and talk of Provys agent it seems he will not be signed first, would like to know if either of the other two have had any progress. Or are they all waiting for Trouba?

Gene had a great way about him. I remember him calling harness races at Brandywine - ah those were the days!

am I reading that right, 7M to spend on Buchnevich, De Angelo, and Trouba, with Lemieux probably not getting a contract?

Seems as though they're going to have to make some kind of deal.

i'm thinking that they move Namestikov and Kreider out. maybe someone takes Shattenkirk for a bag of pucks.

I just did the free trial and agree. Especially with the fancy stats. I guess Im going to have to dive in so I can understand what some of that +G% over Pie actually means.

It means someone wanted to make some numbers fit their narrative, so they develop an arbitrary equation that does so.
