Which is why it is absolutley 100% true that the players are going to fight for a bigger share and they will call it "changes to the escrow".
This is why the owners need to actually crush this union once and for all. - Aetherial
Why is it every time there's a lockout it seems the owners won when in the long run it seems the players win? |

I am so sick and tired of these supposed " STAR ATHLETES " over valuing themselves. 3 Years in the league and expects to be paid in the top five in the sport. Of which he only cracked the top two lines for the last 12 months. Whatever happened to proving yourself long-term and then reaping the rewards of the hard work and commitment you had shown in your past performances. If the business world was like this we would all be making seven figures and the average consumer would be paying 10 times the amount for daily consumables than we are now. Over the course of week I can guarantee you that most Canadians put in more hours than these guys and surely are not spoiled and doted on. The average person works an incredibly long week, then have home life to worry about i.e. enough money, children, job security, employment, advancement and living pay cheque to pay cheque. Now Mitchy can go and say that he is maybe traded, he has to be on the road all the time and he sacrifices for his family. Too damn bad, he made his choice just like I did. Lived in hotels for 19 months out of 24 while trying to support my family, have moved numerous times and have sacrificed just like most Canadians. He wants to be a Leaf, fine, I get it. But Mitchy, keep in mind what it is like to be a CANADIAN who give up thier hard earned dollars to see you play. If that is not enough, than move on. Your getting bad advice and either a) your stupid to realize it b) You do not care c) your a spoiled little boy who expects to own the world at your age and not put your time in.

Ek has reported that this would be the summer of offer sheets. I know I laughed at the time, but the guy has been exactly right. After years of no action we did get the Aho offer sheet. And probably more to come based on these rumours. Montreal is sniffing around Laine and Ottawa is supposedly interested in surrendering FOUR 1st for Rantanen. Pretty risky since some/all of those are probably in the lottery, but this is what Ek's Denver-based source told him over breakfast last week. Again, he just reports what he hears others are sniffing. |

Yeah Dreger and MacKenzie don't seem that connected. Ek had all kinds of stuff that he sourced. And again, I'm extremely jealous of this, but you don't go on the ice for 12 Cup presentations unless you are very connected across the NHL. Pains me to admit that. Basically the only people who have been on the ice more than that would be Bettman, that white-haired guy who guards the Cup, maybe Henri Richard? That's it.

What? Leafs look really good and did so much this summer. They only have Marner to sign. |

How the hell would the Leafs be able to match 12.5M??
- Komisaurus Rex
Mitch wouldn't sign in that poophole.
4th line Bergevin doesn't have the balls to jump from Armia to Marner.
Concentrate on the recent signings of Chairot, Cousins and Varone. That's more Bergevin's level.
Can't even finish ahead of the Queefs |

By making a minor trade?
And BTW, how the hell can the Islanders offer 12.5 with less than 8 million in cap? |

Congrats! you finally had a correct take, I highly doubt Marner would sign an offer sheet with the Habs just because he's from Markham, sadly grew up a Queefs fan.
I actually really like the Chiarot signing, him and Webs are the exact type of dman your D core severely lacks (defensemen that can...well defend), makes it that much better. Cousins is also a good addition for 1 milly, nothing wrong with that. Varone is an AHLer/injury fill in and Bergevin's biggest move is still coming..don't worry I will make sure you eat your words when it happens. Excited to see what that will be.

And what minor (?) trade would that be, you'd have to clear nearly 10M.
There's no way you'd be able to:
a) clear enough cap and be able to remain competitive
and
b) sustain those contracts over time
Marner at anything over 10.5M financially cripples your team. Just look how Dumbazz was barely able to assemble a roster this year. Next year will be even worse lol
Kyle Dumbazz went from saying we will be able to easily resign everyone even with Snakevares to getting absolutely rekt in all of his resignings |

How on earth can the Islanders be sniffing around a Marner offer sheet. Ek said several times that the offer sheet (if it happens) would come from with the division. Learn your divisions people!!
Atlantic:
Tampa Bay - no cap space
Boston - no cap space
Florida - no cap space
Detroit - rebuilding. Crazy to trade any 1sts
Montreal - bury Alzner. Possible.
Buffalo - IR Okposo. Hello.
Ottawa - Ek already said they were sniffing Rantanen. Why not Mitchy? |

Simply,
The owners are making money.
What will eventually happen if they keep giving in is that it will start to be more profitable to invest their money elsewhere. It would be great to see teams fold, and the number of players decrease, and the union eats itself.

Where is "Bergy's" (WTF?) cap space for that?
Islanders... Welcome to Toronto, Matthew Barzal.
Also, I am pretty sure Montreal and NYI won't be high on Marner's list of preferred destinations.
Oh, and if they WANT to match, they trade Ceci or Nylander. Done.
