Then his agent is incredibly out of touch with reality.

Agreed, Paul Marner and his agent Darren (don't call me Dreger) Ferris need to take turns flying kites.

Sounds great, except Jones, Rielly and Kapanen I think come up for renewal the same year, Ugh.

A little early to be worrying about that at the moment.

There will be a new US tv contract and a new CBA before we get there.

The landscape could be radically different.

Yeah, how fast do you think the TV deal money gets sucked up.

I would say within 1 off-season it is gone and teams are capped out again.

Well, I know it is real comical to consider that now... except we have seen what happens this past year when a couple key parts are up for negotiation at the same time.

you fail to understand this is a business.

Marner has a legit point in saying he is in the top 5 scoring category (with McDavid, Kane, Kucherov) in this league, since he's got least even strength ATOI of all of those players. Basically if you give Marner same 5v5&PP time compared to McDavid/Kane, he'll be at 110-115points.

At 22years old, that's worth a contract similar to Matthews, McDavid.
if it's 5years, then around 11-11.5 (similar to Matthews).
if it's 8 years, then around 12-12.5 (similar to McDavid).

he was around top 10 in NHL scoring, so fine...give him the 10th highest cap hit for forwards..

thats 9.5

Nothing to see here.

Just a bunch of cheap ass dillholes whining about having to spend a little coin to change the number on their current Nylander jersey.

You're the one that fails to understand, evidently.

Centre's and goal scorers get paid more (as do winners and UFA's). That's just the way it is. Marner is neither of those things. And only an idiot would think he's in the same tier as McJesus or Matthews.

If it's 5 years it should be $9.5M and down (realistically closer to $9M).
If it's 8 years is should be $10.5 and down (again, realistically closer to $10).

Bergy's next move is going to make a big splash.

belly flop or cannonball... either would be big news.

I would think Bergy's in Montreal for whatever festival is upcoming - so he hunt down the 3-4 line grinder postings on the bus booths.
