At least it's not as bad as the Manning signing and we didn't have to add any kind of sweetener.

Smith is a bottom 3 guy. Just saying.
- Elbows15

Schools in session!!

You're coming in here with just Mohel to back you up?? Not the rest of the fellas? ........... Bottom 3 guy that skated 6th most minutes for forwards for OTT last yr?

Get the fellas, plan a response and I'll check back in a bit.

If Smith doesn't work out, the buyout is very manageable: https://www.capfriendly.c...ulator/zack-smith#results
- 333inthe3rd

Interesting but the window is closed, however when you run the numbers they are much more favorable to a buyout of Smith vs AA in June 2020.

Smith isn't excellent in his own end. He just spends a lot of time there these days.

I'm going with LBR on this one, Chief. BTW, you may have missed a few (dozen) posts.

What does that say about the Sabres? out of the playoffs 10 out of the last 12 years and not winning a playoff series the other 2?
- LAHawk

Ohhh snap, because the Sabres owner and Sens owner are exactly the same.

I mean, I guess they are both bad at the owning and running of the hockey.

One has spent countless dollars, just horribly while one avoids spending at all costs.

So anybody have any comments about day 2 of prospect camp?

I’ll post some observations later tonight. Too busy at work to do it this afternoon.

Here's an idea, for what it's worth. Watch a player, form an opinion (absent of the posse) and see how having your own thought feels, Prince.

Great insight LBR.

This last part is bang on.

I don't nind the deal however the C position did just get a little weaker.

The Hawks must have a plan for their 3C.

- Tyler Cameron

Agree with you and LBR that the center depth got downgraded a bit with no viable 3C option. LBR is right that new additions Carpenter and Smith are best as 4th liners. None of them neither Kampf should be the 3C or even a 3W.

Let’s see how the rest of summer unfolds to see if there is a bigger plan. Riveting off season so far so can only imagine there could be a few more transactions left before Game 1.

This does beg the question of how does this impact Caggiula and where he slots.

Well crap now I’m feeling old I’m a 1960/61 bandwagon fan. It’s been an amazing ride, so much so it’s not worth arguing anymore about a 3rd line center/wing.

I see why Nylander gets flack. The pass gets broken up and he reels to the right instead of getting back to the puck and turning left. Then Dach creates a TO and heads up ice and Nylander is lagging behind.

The level of angst about this guy is laughable. A 31 year old 35 point center who is rapidly losing his footing in a faster NHL is not anything to get worked up about.

The Hawks have clearly identified his bottom 6 replacement. If not and they believe they need a center to replace Anisimov then perhaps they are heading toward that move.

Artem Anisimov is NOT going to be the reason the Hawks make/miss the playoffs or win a Cup. He is pure depth fodder at this point. I am not totally sure why this guy has become a folk hero on this board. Yea Yea I get it, "he creates space" and is "responsible".

Yes I agree not much different than Smith, but they did open some cap space and perhaps that will give them some flexibility to actually UPGRADE from Anisimov, which, shocking as it may be to hear, should not be that hard.

If he was worth much of anything, someone would have given Stan more than Zach Smith.

Maybe another trade is coming. Time to let go of the immortal AA. Opine trading Hammer yes, but this one needs to be put to bed.

I have a feeling Dach is going go be the 3rd line center, yes a little green, but if he can skate, he's a bigger body, thinks the game well, supposedly works hard on the defensive end, why not.

I wonder if they wanted to see him live and believe what they were seeing when they were scouting him. It's interesting it happens after 2 days of camp, just spit balling, but it's probably Perlini

Not surprised you don't think you need help, since you know everything already.

If you read closely over the years, you'd know Ogi is the cook (oops, chef).

You've been surly awhile now. Hope you're well. This is just hockey, eh?
