Not wanting to necessarily make too big of a deal out of this observation, but...

An awful lot of smurfs on that list of defensemen coming to camp. I know they are young and have time to grow yet, but does anyone see any of the 5'10"/170ish guys filling out to 6'2"/200ish?? Like could any of them handle say...Mark Stone in a board battle?

I think the Hawks keep Gus for the season and let him walk as a UFA. He's a placeholder and buys the prospects another year of development. Hopefully the Hawks are in playoff contention and have no need to unload him at the deadline.
- DarthKane

That is EXACTLY what I see happening....unless....Hawks really do poop-da-bed and end up well out of it by the trade deadline. In that case he probably goes to the highest bidder for some picks....

Nah, he just wanted to generate clicks and posts. Worked quite well, eh?

Are you sure, i really don't think he knows what he's talking about. Plenty posters here i would read and do read because they have much better insights and knowledge of the game than he does.

Ya, I just wish posters would lay off with this crap about Boqvist suiting up with the Hawks this season. The kid doesnt turn 19 until later this summer.

I can just imagine Craig Berube game planning for a tilt with the Hawks - "boys lets just blast this little Swedish kid thru the backboards a couple of times"

Colliton knows the drill, he wants men not boys playing on his back end.

There is never any surprise with the hype for prospects. Some fans just forget what they read and or saw about a player's evaluation as last season was ending.

Boqvist has a couplevof things he jas to learn and become proficient at doing. On the defensive side. Important parts of hiw to play the game. Folks he is not far removed from being a raw prospect defensively.

The question becomes: does Boavist develop better faster proper as can be under whose watchful eyes and instruction - Is it London Ontario Junior or Rockford AHL?
Originally the plan called for Campbell, recently retired former Blackhawk, to visit and give advice/instruction when Boqvist team was in town (London).

Oh great for some unexplainable reason i now have London town and Sultan of Swing song by Dite Strait playing in my mind. If only thete was a scrimmage to take my mind elsewhere.

I hope some Blackhawk comes in and out of no where wows 'em. Maybe goes on to an NHL career.......similar to the dire straight the Dire Strait band faced when the song was.written. An ok song for me, i went to google the history behind it. In a 1985 live Aid performance in England of major proportion, the group played between Queen and U2. They announced that they would be hereforth known as Dire Straits.

I nominate Tuulola, Blackawk AHL dman, to make a major breakthrough. Although not as grandoise as that band. I guess with expansion in two years as he leaves the crowded competition in Chicago

- jhawk59

Isn't one of the "explanations" for Nylander's poor showing so far as a pro that he was put into the AHL too soon - that another year in Mississauga (where he had played well as a 17 year old) would have been better for him at 18 than going quickly up to Rochester?

Maybe the same for Boqvist?

And - Sultan of Swing was a terrific song by a terrific guitarist in a terrific band.

Add in the clicks to read his musings. How many if he wrote straight stuff on the Yotes?

He's fishing. PT Barnum was right.

Yes, Buffalo rushed him, but he didn't help matters with his attitude and lackadaisical play. He is a talent, but the Hawks have a ton of work to do with him.

Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public.

Which is only more proof that Buffalo rushed him.

Too many key strokes wasted on Tanner (including these). Let's move on and ignore what he has to say.

Too bad Mark wasn't at their HOF induction. Would have liked to see them play. Saw them once live at Poplar Creek ages ago.

Pretty sure it's just page views, so the clicks part anyway. JJ was kind enough to set me straight one time in a PM.

This is what I'm thinking.

If anything, maybe they move Gus' UFA rights. If he has back-to-back 60 point seasons... they may be worth something.

Knopfler did a couple of nice albums with Emmylou Harris recently.

You're probably right, but if they are okay with Gus's defensive play, i can't imagine Boqvist would be much worse.

Im curious to see what the kid has there's a lot of talent there.

I think just about every year there is a prospect that really stands out and I think a good darkhorse candidate would be Alex Vlasic. If he can think the game at the NHL level, play the body smartly, I wouldn't mind letting him get a sniff of NHL action.

If he has another 60 pt. season I sign him and trade somebody else. That's more points than usually anyone not named Kane. Hopefully Toews has a few more seasons like last year I'm worried about how much he has left.

My guesses would be Beaudin and Kurashev.

Nyquist went straight to the AHL after he was drafted, which was probably a mistake, although he did play a full year in the OHL prior to being drafted. The Blackhawks were smart in having him play a full year in the OHL after drafting him.

I have no idea whether another year in the OHL or moving up to the AHL this season is best for his long term development. That decision is above my pay grade.
