Bottom line IMO is what Sage just alluded to...this trade filled no need (except a tiny bit of cap space relief) but instead created one at 3C.

I need LBR to explain this to me, but it looks pretty good for us if I'm reading it correctly.

Those are higher level result stats relative to their own teams - they're not relative to each other. Since the quality of teammate is higher for the Hawks over the Sens, the comparison using relative numbers isn't straight enough for it to be particularly useful outside of seeing how the compared to their own team. Is it much of a surprise that Anisimov isn't as good as Toews/Kane/Cat but that Smith is slightly better than a roster that had 7 replacement level forwards or worse on it for 30+ games each?

It would be better to look at flat rates while considering context of usage and deployment. Better yet, digging into micro stats is ideal because those are impacted less obviously by quality of team than shot result metrics.

It's interesting that Stan would use so much cap resources to protect against an injury to Crow, and the trade to leave himself so exposed to an injury to Toews or Strome. There's gotta be more to come. I hope.
