He was on record for saying he had better things to do. It was a big (frank) you to Rolling Stone. Cds had just started to be a thing when Brothers in Arms had come out ... & sold the most cds. Alchemy is one of my favorite live albums of all time.
Carry on with the hockey discussion. Sorry for the tangent. |

The Hawks would really need to like Wenneberg.
He's @ 4.9M AAV for the next 4 years. |

Coach Q, Kitchen and Dineen... all head for warmer weather.
Good to see Dineen get a HC gig. He'll be back in the NHL soon enough. |

Hey D, Poplar was the best place to see a show. I had a buddy who was the head tech guy out there for a long time. Alpine Valley is a trek to get to plus the mud. And there's the shed out south of the city in tinley park which has horrible sound - like being in a base cabinet. Was at that show.
Meantime I'm sure Nylander will be given every opportunity to sink or swim. Still surprised at the trade with defense being such a big need.
I know everyone is in a big rush to move AA, but outside of now Shaw the Hawks don't have a lot of guys that go to the net. We'll see how it plays out.

I look forward to seeing clips of these 5’10 Dmen trying to get the puck from 6’4 and skilled Dach in 1v1 possession drills this week
Edit: I’d love to see Dach vs Vlasic in that drill |

#CBJ forward Sonny Milano has accepted his qualifying offer of $874,125 and is back under contract for the 2019-20 season. He’ll be an RFA again next summer. |

The Pickle would have no problem - he's bigger than Dach. Still can't believe they got rid of Svedburg. |

The more the offseason moves along without a deal for AA I'm thinking that he's gonna be a Hawk to start the year. If that's the case I'm thinking we're gonna see a lineup like this...
Kub-Toews-Kane
Cat-Strome-Nylander
Saad-AA-Shaw
Cags-Kampf-Carpenter
Quennville
Keith-Gus
Matta-Murphy
de Haan-Seabrook
KK
Crow
Lehner
This leaves the Hawks a forward or extra D-men short but keeps them under the cap by $348,206. If de Haan starts the season on IR than you could have Dahlstrom and a guy like Nilsson make the roster as well to give them an extra forward. That's pretty solid going into next year. Rockford looks to be stacked as well with talented players...
Kurshev-Saarala-Sikura
Soderlund-Entwhistle-Wedin
Hagel-Highmore-Johnson
Fortin-Nilsson-Knott
Noel/Sikura
Dahlstrom-Boqvist
Beaudin-Carlsson
Krys-Gilbert
Tuulola
Delia
Lankinen
Excited to see if the team can rebound from these past few years and take the next step to get back to the Playoffs and then from there who knows what happens if guys get hot at the right time.
Should be fun to see how the prospects do this week and see who stands out going into this season |

Here's hoping Beaudin looks solid...I never hear much about him at defense and yet I think he will be a solid player for us.

I think just about every year there is a prospect that really stands out and I think a good darkhorse candidate would be Alex Vlasic. If he can think the game at the NHL level, play the body smartly, I wouldn't mind letting him get a sniff of NHL action. - Hossa1881
Is he related to the pickle man in SJ?

My guesses would be Beaudin and Kurashev. - LAHawk
My guesses too. But i am really curious to see both Re Johnson and Hagel.
And what does Carlsson and Gilbert need to work on. |

Beaudin is Keith like with his active stick, great skating, ability to shadow the opponent stride for stride, and gap control. He's not a finished product by any means but is showing good potential to play a top 4 role. |

Hagel and Johnson are cousins actually.
Carlsson is generally steady on defense and skates fairly well. His areas to work on are primarily reading plays at an NHL level (does well so far for AHL competition) and executing the right decision at full speed. Plays physical.
Gilbert is similar although a slower skater in comparison so he needs to be a prototypical stay-at-home defender who relies on solid positioning and smart, simple decision making. Plays even more physical. |

I think some forget that although Beaudin was our second pick (and second defenseman chosen) by the Hawks, his position (27th) was actually one better than Joki (28th).

I always felt Beaudin rivaled Jokiharju in potential to be the most balanced defenseman in the system, and could arguably be stronger than Henri in more facets of the game. Mitchell is in the same conversation, too.
In other words, Jokiharju was not head over heels the better prospect out of the 4 Horsemen. While I'm still on the fence with the trade for Nylander, the new 4 Horsemen (swapping in Vlasic) is still a group to be happy and excited about. |

Additional storyline...why Tanner thinks the Hawks are a bottom 5 team and how Kane would waive his NMC to accept a trade to Arizona. Can't make this stuff up!
I read that and thought that was a joke.

Whos got the bigger chance of making the big club, Nylander or Dach? - ge1002
I think if they both have good camp(s) I think they both make the team... Clearly both will be attending training camp too.
Either way Dach will get his 9 games in regardless, and given Dach's size, skill and 180 foot game I really think he makes the team, even if he's not offensively effective right off the bat...
Nylander, I think he was just disinterested in Buffalo - the kid has skill and seems to be excited to be here in Chicago where his dad played and where he spent time as a kid, and the fact the Hawks have been a damn good team for the better part of a decade and that may light a fire under his butt and get him to play to the ability he can play...
So I wouldn't be shocked if both made the team.....I could see Nylander perhaps starting on the Toews/Kane line and Dach given his strong 2-way game starting the season off as the Hawks 3C, with Shaw on a line that can both score and shut down opposing top lines..
Either way I'm excited because the Hawks will have a lot of talent on display over the next coming month..
