Good morning, Flyerbuzz! 80 days until the season opener!

Can we make it!? It’s going to fly by, right?

Does this mean that Hayes will be paying off hookers, playing (at least ) with pedophiles while ripping the franchise off?
I thought NHLers were honest, hard working and paid their debts, all in a most modest manner?
I would never want a player with the character of The Trumpet playing on MY team.
Maybe Poopsburgh? Maybe the Ranjerks?
Then my hatred (which is never just knee jerk) would have even a historical attribute to solidify the disgust generated by the POTUS.
How's that?
Political crap is always inflammatory. Relating it to a team I have followed since inception revolts me.
Please note this is not personal, no matter how tempting it was.
But this emoticon has seduced me for that purpose. is

Just not necessary to throw any political reference in a Flyers discussion board

Just like some people don't get that Haag is a legitimate NHL defenseman.

Yeah most people are way too thin skinned for that. Soft people. Funny that thin skinned people are the ones complaining in hockey boards like children every day too. Correlation

He became a primary PKer in 2016-17.

In 2017-18 he became their top PK'ing F based on TOI.

The Rangers PK rankings:

2016-17: 79.8%, #19,
2017-18: 81.4%, #12,
2018-19: 78.2%, #27.

I don't think it's crazy to project Hayes racking up 15-25 G and 35-50 apples.

You’re hatred of Hayes is similar to liberals hatred of trump 😂 the guy is good. Just let it go you act like someone who is fairly close to a point a game is a 3rd liner
- Richieattack18

There is no such thing as a third line, remember?

In what world is a difference of 23% is close? I guess if you average a 67 in school you are close to being an "A" student?

Also, his career PPG is .60. His contract year was an outlier.

Charlie O'Connor just posted an article on The Athletic discussing Hagg and his future.

TLDR version. Charlie's take is a little more bleak than I'd like.

That's a pretty big spread there. I'd like at least 20 and 40.

His game has been improving. He is just 27. His game is not on a down trend. Coots has an outlier two years ago. But it wasn’t. I get that you don’t think much of the Hayes acquisition. He is a question mark yet but fair to say he is a decent even strength scorer and can log in good PK numbers.

Nah, just pointing out that I don't think someone who stated that Haag is not a legitimate NHL player should be posting that some people don't understand something.

At 27 his game is pretty much at its peak. I doubt he is going to turn into a first-team all-star. The acquisition was fine. The contract is not. The view that he is worth 7.1M a year for 7 years is absurd. Chuckie did what Chuckie does, which is build middling teams and uses assets like cap space poorly.

The defense of and the building of this player into now a top tier center, first-line center, a player who may or may not center two really good wingers or whatever you want to call it is laughable.

The #'s on Hagg are terrible, but in this particular case, I don't feel like they are entirely reflective of his natural ability. More a reflection in how he's been pigeonholed into a physical, play it safe kind of role.

There have been flashes of skill and play-pushing from him. I think they just drummed most of it out of him in LHV.

He probably won't realize it w/ the Flyers, but I think he's got a bit more two-way upside to tap into if 'freed'.

My concern isnt the offensive upside, I think that will continue to improve. My concern is his poor play in zone exits. As much as I like Hagg, he was one of the major contributors to the Flyers endless struggles in getting the puck out of their own zone.

I'm not sure he has O upside but I do think him playing in a D that is a disaster all around affected how he played to some extent. I think he has room to play a little better based upon his skill and if he plays with a good D group. Right now he is a 5-7th D.

That was the scary part of the article, he needs a high end D to cover his flaws. At first read you are like, Ok that makes sense. Then you realize that limits the D he is playing with. Lets hope he gets a little better and the D play better as a whole.
