Who wants to see how angry everyone was when we drafted Ristolainen instead of Valeri Nichushkin?

Enjoy.

I remember the week leading up to it

I wanted Zadorov and didn't think he would be there at 16

Whoever said this was a fracking idiot.

“Bad pick when you have Pysyk, Mccabe, JGL, Mcnabb, Myers, Ruhwedel, all under 25.

and 0 top wing prospects.”

Edmonton fan has a trade on cap friendly of:

Risto + Sheary for RNH + Kassian

Two replies are that it's a good trade.

I don't know if that's an ideal trade for Buffalo.

Anyone have thoughts?

I would definitely do that. And we would only take on 500K to the cap.

I saw another trade there. Risto for Stepan and 2020 2nd rd pick and 2021 2nd rd pick. Stepan has a cap hit of 6.5 for 2 more years so we would take on 1.1 on the cap. You can flip those 2nds later on.

Mantha was a darling to a lot of fanbases around the league, and continued to be during the following World Juniors.

With all those "I want Nichushkin, Zykov, Shinkaruk, Lazar.."

At least DoLittleDarcy picked 2 NHL players, all while ignoring us idiots.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto are facing an angry crowd of savage Indian Warriors and the Lone Ranger turns to his friend and says, "Looks like we're (frank)ed, Tonto."

This is why I always bang on the be good now. Having “good” Prospects is severely overrated. How familiar does this sound.

”n the last few years.. we have added so much youth to our roster for the future that most would be drooling at the mouth..

Armia - Top line potential winger
Grigorenko - top line and possible elite center
Girgensons - Potential captain - 2nd line or 3rd line checking center
Johan Larsson - 2nd line or 3rd line checking center
Brian Flynn - 3rd line banger, hard worker, pot 15-20 goals
Daniel Catenacci - 3rd line center with great speed and hard worker
Colin Jacobs - 3rd or 4th line banging center
Tom Schaller - was defensive forward of the year in college
Jake McCabe - probably #3 D-Man potential
Justin Kea - 3rd or 4th line banger type centerman
Rasmus Ristolaninen - #3 Dman or top liner who is very well rounded and physical
Nikita Zadorov - #4 Dman type. VERY physical
JT Compher - 2 way center, great passer and hard worker. 2C potential?
Connor Hurley - High schooler who could have been top 10 next year.
Justin Bailey - aggressive hard working local with 3Winger potential.
Nicholas Baptiste - blazing fast speed could be 2RW potential but very raw
Gustav Possler - high regards in sweden for being a solid overall player

Not to mention having Hackett, Makarov, and Ullmark in Goal.”

You know what’s great about the Jokiharju and Miller trades? And to an extent Montour, is that we no longer need the ridiculous justification of “who will replace his minutes?” for keeping Ristolainen
- sbroads24

This is a simple, but hearty thought. Jason Botterill just spent 4-5 months figuring out how to build a defense by committee, led by Rasmus Dahlin, in order to either expunge Risto, or to play him properly.

Buffalo is the exception to the rule. Every team that drafts well has sustained success. The Red Wings made the playoffs 20+ times in a row. The majority of cup contenders have most of their rosters comprised of home grown talent. Take a look at our own division (Tampa, Boston, and Toronto).

And 90% of the players in our league were once drafted and were once considered prospects.
