“You always want your players to come in and have that belief and we’re certainly going to give him an opportunity,” said Botterill. “I’ve been on record saying there are maybe one or two, maybe three players that will step in and play in the National Hockey League this year. Probably the best thing for any player is to go back to junior and have that other year of development, but we’ll see how the summer goes. Dylan is a very good athlete, has great size and a great frame, but he certainly has to get stronger and it is certainly a big jump to the National Hockey League from junior.”

Sounds to me like he is going back to juniors. And there is nothing wrong with that

I hope he spends the year there, and after the season he plays in the playoffs with the Amerks. If he has a good showing there, maybe he makes the team next year. Hopefully we can have some success this year so he isn't pressured into starting 2020 with the Sabres if he isn't ready

Botts is in to development. Im not gonna play "crystal baller hockeybuzz" but based on that comment, I think we need a #2C for 2-3 years that we can trade at the deadline on the last year of his contract, slot Casey up, have Cozens play 3C.
Casey at 2 this year makes me nervous from a defensive standpoint. Even if he has better wingers, there's some very good second lines that are going to steamroll him.

Cut him some slack. He lost like 50 lbs of buffalo meat fording the river, he ran out of bullets, and half of his party died of dysentery from bad berries while traversing the Yukon trail. Tough to gain weight

Casey should know the good restaurants get this guy a steak

He's gonna see a lot of 1st lines. The other teams smell blood on the last change. They either have to give him a better RW, or they need a center to shelter him

I like that idea better. He would properly develop, DC will properly develop.
I know its just a roomer, but RNH fits my idea well. but i imagine it doesnt actually have any legs. It would also fit your timeline of playing in the playoffs in Roch and then even starting the following year in Roch, coming up to play the last 20 games for the sabres, back to Roch for the playoffs, start on the sabres in his 3rd year.

He can play in Roch for the playoffs (once his season is complete) on an ATO, but he won't be eligible to play in Roch on his NHL contract this year or next. Hate the rule, but that's part of the baggage of CHL players.

He'd have to turn 20 by 12/31. His b-day is in Feb. Unless I'm botching something, he won't be eligible.

He constantly beats up Casey for having a “dad bod”. So therefore he eats too much. I mean I have a dad bod and I don’t eat too much and run around 8-10 miles a week. But I also drink way too much so there is that

Aye. forgot about all those crappy rules.
So he has to develop entirely with his Jr. club and either make the jump directly to the NHL or wait quite a bit longer?

He can get his 9 game tryout too. But yeah. That jr league agreement sucks. They need to have a clause for 1st round pick or something

They need to streamline the league rules across the board, and add cash transfer agreements if necessary

You got the label right, “quitter”. But you for got to post in all caps with at least half a dozen exclamation points.

QUITTER!!!!!

Extra credit is awarded for calling him “JEFFY”, as well.
