I don’t see any way the Rangers lose though. If a deal isn’t made by the deadline we can just trade him for a 1st+. I would almost guarantee the + will be better than Pionk.

Pretty much this. We all know that the Rangers are a better team with Trouba than without him. Just remember, if we do have to go down this road, two things happen:

1) We suddenly don't have to free up cap room.

2) We'd perhaps wind up with some cap to sign/trade a solid 2C.

Howden was given an extensive look at 2C last year and after a good start bombed.

Andersson has shown not even being close to ready for that role

Chytil best position might be wing.

I wouldn't trade the farm for a 2C, but there is plenty reason to get one.
