Despite popular opinion, Loui is still a useful player (unlike suggested trade comparables such as Ladd, etc.). His PK value is near the top of the league. Additionally, most of his salary has already been paid out.

End of the day, his cap hit sucks. If they can trade him, great but the team shouldn’t add a sweetener or take back another bad contract.

I think the Canucks should slow play this and look for a partner at the TDL - Loui would represent a good add for teams looking to firm up their PK. If he can regain a bit of his scoring touch even better.

Heard in the Vancouver media they are doing polls on if any of the new acquisitions are impact players. The commentary goes on that they are solid players but not impact worthy like a Subban or Panarin. The say the effect of the changes is team will be mired in mediocrity.

I think they are missing the cumulative effect of all the players brought in from last season to now. The upgrade to support and enhance the impact players like EP, Horvat, BB & Hughes can bring a significant gain. Everyone pulling their weight with efficiency. It can be infectious difference maker to winning.

Agreed, a lot of people are missing the main point - Benning’s draft picks are the stars and solid, cap friendly support players are what is needed. EP40 and Hughes are going to make a lot of the haters eat their words IMHO. Looking forward to watching this self-driven group.

Plus, the schedule is significantly better this year - the schedule alone should be good for at least another 5 wins.

The media sounds tapped in to the realistic fans and not the pom-pom spewing Benning fan-boys.

I wouldn’t use “realistic” to describe Benning-haters or Benning “fans boys” - same coin, different sides.

Benning has certainly made mistakes but he has also drafted a great core - no reason they can’t take a big step next year. If the team makes the playoffs next year and say wins a round, are you continue being negative just to spite Benning? Tough way to live.

“Eriksson found most of his value on the penalty kill, where he was legitimately one of the best penalty killers in the entire NHL. When looking at rate statistics among forwards that spent at least 80 minutes at 4-on-5, Eriksson was tenth in unblocked shot attempts against, fifth in shots on goal against, and fourth in both expected goals against and actual goals against.” -Pass it to Bulis

The dude was disapointing relative to his cap hit, and didn’t push the needle much 5 on 5 but he was a legit specialist. No way the Canucks should be adding assets to move him. Use him for now and trade him as soon as the right option comes along.

“The coach and I don’t really get on 100 per cent,” he acknowledged about his relationship with Travis Green. “It is difficult when I do not get the same trust that I received from all the other coaches I had during my career. Of course it is tough on that front.”

Thanks Carol!

If you could retain salary and ship Lui to Nashville for Turris, and then move Sutter for pick/prospects this team would be strong down the middle!

- 1970vintage

For turris it'd have to be sutter + Sven + LE

Canucks should put him on loan to Abbottsford or Manitoba Moose
- VANTEL

Loaning would only decrease cap hit by 1.07m
Same with demoting

How's the love fest going in here? I see after many years of failure Benning's pulled himself off a nice summer....finally.
