It would be stupid to bring him back a 4th time. One season was fine but at some point does Loui go hey I am $hittty? Maybe it's time. Loui has to know he sucks. He shouldn't have been in the NHL a year and a half into his contract but I guess we are gluttons for punishment.

Yup.

Canucks are coming into camp with some pretty high Mojo . They are trying to win a playoff spot and move this team to the next level. There is no way they put things on hold to find out how they can cater to make Loui happy.

Today is the deadline for RFA's to accept qualifying offers.
Brock Boeser obviously won't accept his Q-O of $874,125.
Discussions are still taking place between the #Canucks and Nikolay Goldobin.

I have a feeling people are going to be plenty surprised at the new look of this team coming into camp. I would bet if he has a bad training camp he will hang them up when given a choice of Utica or retirement. I only see two ways out retirement or Utica.

I don't think he makes training camp. I don't think Benning or Green want him anywhere near the club. I think he will be in the AHL on loan where he can't b1tch to Canuck players or prospects.

We can only hope. Did he show he was even an NHLer the past 2 seasons? So many games we watched and he was non existent. Its not a slump. You don't slump for years.

Add a little over 4 mil. Plus you need to add 900k for Schaller that still counts against the cap

I am not worried about the cap. Canucks will come in with a 23 man roster , and they will be cap compliant . There is no other option

Benning said he will probably be making a trade.

It’s too bad there’s so many bad contracts on the books, but yes, they will be cap compliant on day one.

Bennings early work/days are somewhat undesirable

I think he has finally got the hang of how to do things. His signings the last two years is a much better record. All of his signings this year have been better than expected. I really like Roussel (one of my favorite guys) . Beagle was a year too long but he will be a solid shut down guy for four years. I wanted Schaller to sign here last year but he did not live up to expectations.

If you look at the club this year it is a solid NHL team for the first time in many years. The core seems to be close to where we hope.

I think getting rid of Benning and starting over again is pretty dumb. I think we will improve this year and will get better year to year. I think Dim Jim finally learnt .

I still hope they replace him, there’s some great pieces from all the losing and some good drafting, not unlike when Gillis took over from Nonis. Gillis had all the main pieces but he needed to add depth, which he did, it worked out really well. Just like I think it could if you replace Benning with the right person.

PS - I think the Roussel signing was very good as well. Beagle and Schaller, not so much

I don’t know what’s not to like, he guided the team to its most successful period in its 50 year history. Ya he was a d!ck but he iced a great team once he added the depth. Ok his drafting was poop but he wasn’t exactly picking top five or ten every year. Still should have been better though.

Gillis set the team back big time. The hole he left from his utterly horrendous drafting and ntc's handed out really hurt the club long term. There is a reason he isn't in the league now, it's not because he was an amazing gm either.

petey and hughes can earn $3.7m in bonuses which looks like will have to be carried over to next year. so we better make the playoffs this year bcuz it would be tough to make it with that much in dead money
