Been watching as much video as I can on PodK since the draft. He is tenacious! With the recent acquisitions JB has made we are going to be a tough team to play against. The “soft” days are over. - we_are_all_canucks
I really hope his offensive game can translate. The only thing I'm worried about. |

I think the AVs are going to be a team to watch after that I think anyone can join them.
We have been really lucky with our draft picks. We might take another step this year.
I will be happy finishing 15 or up |

I hope he's got a couple of cards up his sleeve. Sutter & Sven gone changes things quick. |

We’ll have to wait and see about that. But every successful playoff team needs a Brad Marchand, Mike Peca type of player. That’s what I hope PodK becomes. |

He is what you call a fuk-it contract . Not the only team that has one of them. - VANTEL
There’s probably more teams with them than without lol |

The silver lining is it is over in 2 years. I suspect they will have either really solid years or spend it on LTIR. |

He is also 18 . I think the older and stronger he gets his finish will increase. |

I look at 3 very similar teams , the Habs Sabers and us. We all have the same thing going on .
Alzner has 4.6 for 3 more years , Okposo has 4x6 Canucks Loui 3x6
Sabers have 4 more years of Hodgson on 761K , Habs have Mason at 1.6 mil this year and we have Spooner at 1.03 for two years.
We have the Luongo recapture but Habs will have price and Weber |

Exactly
every team in the league has 1 contract at 3-5 million that they could do without. Boston had 6 million in Backes in the pressbox and the Blues had Jake Allen on the bench
It's like dead money in the NFL, The cap there is 188 million and every team seems to have 10-15 million in dead money making the unofficial cap somewhere between 170 and 175 million
You can easily make up for a bad contract by offsetting it with a value contract
Pens fans think the sky is falling because of Jack Johnson at 3.25, Ignoring Crosby at 8.7, Guentzel at 6 and Letang at 7.25, Dumo at 4, etc.....

The Nucks could probably get something of minimal value if they retained 50% of Erikssson...But even at 3per I think he would be a difficult sell... But I'm sure some team may take him off your hands for a sweetener...

It’s the way things work on July 1. You either give the player close to what he wants, or you don’t get the player,” Rutherford said. “With Tanev’s age , the way he trains, I don’t have any issue with the term.”
Jim Rutherford Stanley cup winning GM understands what free agency is all about. Too bad so many fans don't get it. |

I wonder why LE to Boston for Backes (Less Term), or to Minnesota for Rask (Less Cap hit) hasn't been floated more often
Both deals would benefit the Nucks in *some way* financially cap hit wise, and LE is probably a more useful player than either Backes or Rask at this point and cheaper in actual dollars

Sven is worth keeping to see if he can stay healthy and put together a season. His value is to low right now to trade. Sutter...his value is low but I don’t think it’s ever coming back up.

Per Satiar Shah: I’m still keeping an eye on the Stars as a potential destination for Loui Eriksson.
Could see something involving Cogliano who has 2 years at $3.25M per left and/or Comeau who also has 2 years remaining at $2.4M per |

They have .970 in cap space. I think they will get the full Hanzal relief as he may never play again. |

Eriksson for Seabrook and DeBrincat? - VANTEL
Kind of insulting...
I wouldn't trade Seabrook straight up for Eriksson.... DeBrincat is untouchable, Kid just put up 41 goals last season and has easy 50 goal potential at some point over the next couple of seasons, wouldn't be shocked if he hit 50 as soon as next season.
DeBrincat is part of the future...
Seabrook's contract is indeed a ball & chain, but so is Loui Eriksson....
Seriously, you want to dump Eriksson you're going to have to add a sweetener of some sort and perhaps even retain salary - that or swap on terrible contract for another....
Besides, Seabrooks contract is becoming a bit more attractable over time considering his salary was front loaded so his actual salary goes down every season, so in a season or 2 he will be an attractive player for a team looking to hit the cap floor while while paying minimal salary on a higher cap hit.... |

I think that’s JTM trade is going to be looked at at a slick move by Jim. If you look at ROR stays up to the age of 26 it’s pretty close. Same size. Same 2 way players. JTM has a better contract and upside (ROR has his best this year at 28). All for a semi protected first. |
