I didn't say that at all. I said players will use comparables inside their own teams to set their value. That doesn't mean they'll limit themselves to a deal they don't think would be fair to them.

No one has exceeded it, have they? Most recent example. I am fine with Mitch getting more than 8.5, but I am pointing-out the goals are not there for current highest paid NHL players, which incluedes guys signed the last few months like Matthew and Skinner. - RogerRoeper
It's very convenient to only take goals into account but I doubt Marner's clan accepts this logic.
Bottom line is: He's been just as good or better than Matthews last season and he wants to get a similar salary. |

Top point producer two straight years including last year over Tavares. And unlike Matthews he has stayed healthy. His arguments aren't hard to make |

Hi everyone. I haven't read all the comments yet, but I was thinking about this and I think that with regards to Marner, we should point to Tavares' and Matthews' salaries as to why Marner deserves 11-12 million. |

Do you want it to be?
They look like regular potato "tasti-taters" to me, but perhaps there's a chicken version I'm unaware of. |

you seem to be projecting a bit of hope here. if he signs for less than those 2 it would be on a short term deal, which would be insane for the Leafs to do because if you think he's got Dubas bent over the table now, just wait. in 2 years he will have Dubas strapped to a chair ass-out with a gag in his mouth. he's just not going to commit long term to being the third highest paid forward in Toronto. Leafs are better off biting the bullet now and giving him similar money to those 2. |
