But he's not a centre and has a career high of 26 goals. The highest a non 30 goal scorer ever got was 8.5 for Draisaitl.
Check the list of highest paid players. All goal scorers. - RogerRoeper
Yeah but Marner deserves 11-12 million because of Tavares' and Matthews' salaries |

No time for that. Too busy pointing to Tavares' and Matthews' salaries as to why Marner deserves 11-12 million |

When you try and set your value, you compare yourself towards comparables around the league but also comparables in your own team.
Aho is being paid 2.4M per year more than Jordan Staal (who's now 2nd salary wise). So he's being paid accordingly as the best player on his team.
Marner and his agent compare themselves to the other top players on his team (Tavares and Matthews) and want to be paid in a similar fashion.
As for how it turns out, who knows? |

What a load of crap. Staal signed his deal years ago when the cap and salaries were lower.
You just told me that Rantanen will sign for 6 million. Good luck with that. LOL |

I didn't say that at all. I said players will use comparables inside their own teams to set their value. That doesn't mean they'll limit themselves to a deal they don't think would be fair to them.
Stop trying to be a smartass, you're not very good at it. |

How can Rantanen get more than Mckinnon then? It's worthless to compare deals from years ago. Both agents and Gms will point that out,

No one has exceeded it, have they? Most recent example. I am fine with Mitch getting more than 8.5, but I am pointing-out the goals are not there for current highest paid NHL players, which incluedes guys signed the last few months like Matthew and Skinner. |
