I think he's American born and spent a lot of time playing in the US.

Like all these prospects, they're going to need time in the AHL.

Looking back at Panarin, he scored 60 in the KHL then 20 in the playoffs and he was 23 and then stepped into playing with Kane and the Blackhawks.

Not sure any of the guys Dubas has signed is on that level. They all look like depth guys at best.

- JohnFergusonJr

Panarin is probably gonna be the best undrafted Russian this decade. Smallish while that still was an issue aaand a late bloomer as well.

What Hyman brings is quite valuable and he's very underrated by many.

The last couple Euro-projects didn't turn out so great.

Eventually one has to work out, right?

Literally the only forward the Leafs have with 100+ hits. Gauthier and Kapanen with 98 and 92.

Surprisingly, Marleau had 74 and Kadri with 85.

The already not so physical Leafs are going to be even less physical.

Hyman's going to be the only guy left who goes into corners.

signing Ceci is smoke and mirrors

Its just to leave Marner just enough cap space to keep it reasonable..and then he will flip Ceci as soon as Marner signs

If only he had a signing bonus so dumping him could actually be something real.

He's really good at going into corners too. Great on the boards, on the PK. If I remember right he also gets hit more than anyone in the league, which is actually an admirable stat I think.

Yup, he could very well ask for whatever Ferland gets cap percentage wise when he is an FA.

still, if you've followed a player carefully for a game or 5 and counted the hits and giveaways/takeaways to compare it with the official stats... holy poop those stats are laughable!!!

I was actually impressed with his offensive game last season. Some of his moves made me wonder when did he learn to do that. Like I said, he's gotten better every year.

Still the same people counting them so it's fair in the end.

Even without looking at those numbers, you can tell the Leafs have very few players that hit, grind and play hard nosed hockey.

503*

Dead last in the NHL.

But PIM usually means you're not breaking the rules as much.

Only 7 majors all season though. Hyman had 3 of them.

That's just about a full 180 from exact science right there...

The proof of just how bad hockey stats are, as of now, is that the Tanner's of this world concludes that - insert scrubs - is better/ more valuable than the proper elite players.

Babcock's philosophy is to put two skilled players with a grinder.

The grinder's job is to go get the puck and immediately give it to the skilled guys.
