Rebuilds through drafting require time, and for Benning, I would think time is not his friend. I would think he gets the boot if Canucks fail to make the playoffs this year.

Odds say that’s probable

Yep.

Marner-Point-Laine-Tkachuk all see this and are definitely asking for shorter term.

It will be interesting to see how the new CBA effects things such as RFA contracts......I don’t think the idea was for them to break the bank but once MacT paid Hall, Nuge and Ebs big money as RFAs it all but broke the system

And their roster is so much better too which helps

They could afford the depth it takes.

Steve Simmons is having a meltdown on overdrive.. claiming he’s the only guy “genuine” enough to write the articles he does.

The pressures getting to him.

Lets see how it plays out.
Btw gl on hitting on Marner better than dreamed & lucking out on AM 1oa. That said neither team has done anything of note just yet.

Canucks got a gem in Quinn Hughes. I'm still pi$$Ed at Holland for drafting Zadina over him. Plus he would've taken Bouchard if Zadina hadn't fallen to him.

Wouldn't be surprised if the '19 class turn out to be the best since '03. And the '20 class is supposedly gonna be even better.
Getting an extra 1st round pick at the tdl could be yuuuge

- 21peter

Yeah, I feel like this was a pretty good draft year. At least I'm happy with our pick.

Habs have 12 picks next year.

Hopefully we can turn some of them into another first rounder.... then ask the NHL to rig the lottery so we win it and draft Lafrenière

I hope they address the tax advantage a handful of teams have.

I think Bouchard is gonna be very good as well.

Zadina had a rough time in the AHL but he's gonna be just fine.

Then he reaches for Broberg this draft.
Stevie Y with Seider was a big reach too.

I'm starting to wonder if the "strength" of a draft is just going to keep going "up" because young players are so molded and trained from childhood now that they all seem ready earlier than people used to expect historically.

2020 does look great though on the surface. Great year for the Swedes if things go the way they are expected to.

Than Bouchard?

They're different kinds of player but I feel like Bouchard will turn into a powerplay monster.

That's for Pitt exclusively. Maybe time for another one - Crosby's getting old...

I'd say Dobson will be better than Bouchard. But Hughes will be taking turns with Dahlin winning Norris trophies.

That's the thing. Broberg is a forward turned defenseman. The talent is clearly there. He has the perfect GM in Holland who believes in over ripening prospects.

Kids a (frank)ing freak. Saw him live twice. Looks like a 20 year old showed up to punk the 12 year olds.
