Yes I have. The overlaps of useless vets really doesn't make much sense unless the plan is to plug them in in 2 years and leach 13th overall picks. Unless they LTIR and Hossa jock itch everybody like you suggest.
- AdamFrench

Only OJ will be ready before 2yrs. The rest are in NCAA or Europe or Jr with a few in the AHL. 2yrs is pretty much the time frame.

I agree, except that I think he’ll budge and take 11x5...

I think Dubas is smart enough to do whatever it takes to keep him, including moving Willy.

- Tanooki

I hope you enjoy the endless blaming of taxes as Tampa uses their extra depth to knock us out for 5 years straight.

8.5x5 is plenty fair. 9.5x5 is an overpayment equivalent to what nylander and matthews got.

The Hockey news not my favourite hockey source but they had Vancouver rated at 27th out of 31 before they traded a lottery pick for journeyman JT Miller. They had a couple of very good picks in Boeser and Pettersson but sandwiched between disaster picks of Virtanen and Juolevi

Right but he is still going to be paid so what was the point in saying don’t sign guys to 10+ mil contracts when you guys will be doing the exact same thing?
- RatedR80

Last year & 2yrs from now are apples & oranges. We won’t have 3 of them.

So not really an overpayment, but not the best.

Dudes gonna make more than McDavid.

Book it.

- Tanooki

If he does then a 5oa pick looks like a steal of epic proportions.

Lots of guys will be making more then McDavid in a few years from now....just a matter of time before another free agent breaks 12 mil
- RatedR80

Yeah I know.

McDavid is a dumbass for not taking whatever max $ is.

Especially if he has to play in Edmonton

To be fair there is no one else on that roster in its current form that will be good enough to command 10+ mil either

Then why are they filling the team with 3rd line overpriced guys? The Canucks have hit on Boeser and Pettersson better than anybody could have dreamed. They need to bottom out and get a top end guy to add to it. DiPietro will likely be a star, loved watching him on the 67's, but goalies take time.

He could have went the AM route and signed for 5 years and then cashed in huge in the UFA market but he chose to cost himself money by adding the 3 extra years....yes he certainly did us a huge favour there

Would have happened this summer for Panarin if he would have taken the deal from the Islanders.

Yeah his Q stats are unreal.

I’m glad the big forwards are making a comeback.

Dach went higher than most people thought. Chicago also took a chance on Nylander, I think they’re pivoting to being a harder team to play against.

Yep.

Marner-Point-Laine-Tkachuk all see this and are definitely asking for shorter term.

Rebuilds through drafting require time, and for Benning, I would think time is not his friend. I would think he gets the boot if Canucks fail to make the playoffs this year.

Lets see how it plays out.
Btw gl on hitting on Marner better than dreamed & lucking out on AM 1oa. That said neither team has done anything of note just yet.

Wouldn't be surprised if the '19 class turn out to be the best since '03. And the '20 class is supposedly gonna be even better.
Getting an extra 1st round pick at the tdl could be yuuuge
