Same. I’ve been negative in the past but that’s when the team was full of tweeners and overpaid mentors. This is the first time in a long time that I’m genuinely excited about a season starting.

If he gave Myers 7x7 and Ferland 5.5Mx5 like I feared then I’d join the miserable group but thankfully that wasn’t the case

I like this new super positive nucker 😂

Team is getting bigger/stronger and more physical. Having those players being able to contribute offense too is awesome. Miller and ferland arent slouches, they can score too.

to me tanev and sutter would be the easiest as they have the most perceived value; but as much as i hate to say it tanev would be needed for a playoff push so i guess it depends on the return
- johnnykarate

Tanev and virtanen and sutter i imagine are way more likely to be moved than eriksson. Benning has probably been working the phones on a couple players.

I'm still a huge Rafferty fan. I think hes going to get games and surprise people.

Same. I think he’s a big part of why Schenn was let go

Inevitable he plays. He seemed at ease but only a small sample size.

I hope he gets some more. Defense will hit an injury or two at some point so I imagine he gets the 1st or 2nd call up.

You gotta believe that’s true. Many teams have decisions & moves to make. JB is overstocked & well ahead of the curve.
- Nighthawk

true. he's well positioned.

gm's of other teams are always willing to pay a premium when dealing with a cap strapped team.

As long as the contracts are reasonable then yes.

His older contracts aren’t good but his recent ones are pretty solid overall.

Canucks have ~$9.5M in cap space if you account for Schaller in Utica. Take out $3.5M for Ferland & VAN has ~$6M for Boeser.

There is an additional $3M of flexibility with Roussel starting year on LTIR if needed but eventually they'll need to get cap compliant when he's healthy

he also mentions clearing space for the eventual petey/hughes bonuses so they dont carry over to next year

I've actually seen tanev to wpg being rumored on twitter. Wpg defense is in shambles right now so it makes sense

Honestly, with Hughes here, the recent signings, and how things are shaping up, I haven't been this excited for a season to start since the cup run.
- Codes1087

Man I’m pumped. We had one top 6 winger last year and now we have Boeser, Miller, Ferland and Pearson (borderline). Crazy. And he overhauled the D. Pom Poms engage

Means Benn shifts to RHD his strong side. Idk if Tanev can be moved now. That’s a dicey call to make but you never know.

Ferland horvat pearson is a big boy 2nd line. That line could be deadly. Horvat setting a career year with pylons makes me excited to see his output with some actual wingers.

But it is. You act as if 30 players signed actually impacts the cap. You also seem to have your head buried to the fact that players will be moved out. He's obviously not done

Also, Hughes doesn't need a new contract until the summer of 2021, same as Pettersson. By then Edler, Sutter, Baertschi, Schaller, Tanev, Pearson and Benn are all off the books....$24 million with an increasing cap - doesn't seem to fit the narrative

- chompsey

Not that I disagree, but if guys are “coming off the books” then someone has to take their place. So while I agree, Sven is already redundant, and has been replaced, if you are taking say Pearson out you have to replace him with someone, who will also be getting paid a salary. If you’re banking on Lockwood to replace Pearson on his ELC I hope you have a backup plan.

Tight up against the cap is fine. We don’t need a premium just solid is fine. Picks are best or prospects 2nd best.

Again CF Armchair GM is a great tool if you want to do line-ups & demotions etc.
