The only thing I disagree with is Simon on the 3rd line. He's horrible and anyone who thinks he's any good is an idiot. He only gets possession numbers because he was in the top 6 way too much. I would put Tanev in his place and put Simon on the 4th line where he belongs.

23% time spent with Crosby and Jake.
17% with Horny and Bjug.

Yeah... LOADS of top 6 time and not a massive amount of bottom 6 shuffling after that.

You're a moron.

Damn what bridge did you crawl out from under? Wherever it is, you should probably get back under and close your cardboard door and put the crack pipe down.

Crosby WITH/WITHOUT Simon

Simon just couldn’t score to save his life it seemed. Anybody know what his shooting % was? It seemed like he was always getting chances

Didn’t sullivan like his lines in pairs? And then rotate the 3rd guy on a line. I see a lot of this going on all year.

Yep, let me grab an article from a few blogs back... it was the 3rd or 4th lowest with the Penguins after Kessel and Horny/Malkin I believe.

https://thesportsdaily.co...o-help-the-penguins-p1b1/

Simon’s individual shooting percentage for the season is an abysmal 6.54% at 5v5 and 6.56% since January 1st. Since the start of 2019, only Hornqvist (1.67%), Wilson (3.03%), Kessel (4.92%), Cullen (5.26%), and McCann (6.52%) have had worse shooting luck than Simon.

He shot 6.6% which suggest bad luck.

Previously he shot 11.1%

If he had shot 11.1% last season he would have had around 13 goals.

What is important for Simon is although his on ice numbers are phenomenal his individual scoring chances and high danger chances per 60 are low.

Knowing this plus all his lines generate chances better with him, it is clear like some have stated that he is sneaky good at being creative and generating chances for his linemates.

Another reason his percentages are so good is his defensive impact is about even with his offensive one. That doesn't translate into points for, but it's helping his line have the puck more and not get scored against.

I'm interested to see if Simon can repeat those possession numbers. Lots of prayers have fallen backwards after good years (example Rust last year to this). I expect he'll still be good, maybe not THAT good. At the same time, like you stated, it wouldn't be surprising at all if he scored a little more.

Good stuff. Simon looks like he just needs some consistency. I’d prefer if Simon and McCann played mostly with Sid/Guentzel line and see which one breaks out.

Trading Bjugstad for a pick and then flipping that into Gusev should be the easiest move GMJR makes all summer.

I wouldnt mind dumping Rust. I would love to dump Hornqvist and/or Johnson, but I'm trying to be realistic.

Just curious. How long would you allow Simon to play on the first line with only fairytale stats? Whole season with the great playmaker of the game. 4 goals? But great “underlying” numbers.

And what if those underlying numbers also mean Simon puts up 60+ assists with those 4 goals? You going to deny a now 64 point player time with the top line?

I guess I should add context. If Simon was out there digging out pucks and setting Sid up for taps ins then yeah I would be happy with 60 some assist machine. However I’ve watched the guy play. Only way he’s racking up assists is if Sids on fire and pucks are bouncing off Simons stick as he’s falling down to Sid.

Nah. His eye test watching hockey is more akin to beer goggles at the bar looking for chicks.

The worse the players are the more attractive the hockey is to him.

Make sure you’ve got a bag of flour so you can find the wet spot. Or just flip the rolls until you smell poop and go one roll back.
