You have a long-term signed 23 yo RW who had two 61 points seasons before this stupid contract-thing ruined his season (see Jacob Trouba). He got 11 pts in 20 playoffs games, which is not the end of the world.

As a Habs fan who would love to have this guy on this team, please stop whining.

you can have him.

yes, but do you know what the Rangers Cap situation, or FA situation is?

How about Dallas? Ottawa?

Do you give a flying frank about any of them?

- Aetherial
Rangers don't have much to sign or any cap problems, the Stars had to make a decision on whether to keep Zuccarello and lose a first so instead signed Pavelski & Perry. They didn't qualify Brett Richie & bought out Valeri Nichushkin...not much in terms of RFAs outside of that (obviously let spezza go as a UFA). (frank) Ottawa.

I personally like to follow what the other teams are up to

Any idea what Philly's cap situation is or their FA situation?

Yeah, neither do I, because I couldn't give a poop about the team or the city.

nicely done!

Seriously were do people get that the Leafs are in cap hell. Does anyone actually have a clue what cap hell is? Well ill tell ya, its not a (frank)ing team whos right up against the cap because there paying there young superstars good coin. Cuz in all honesty they could trade anyone of them for a haul in a blink of an eye and oh look at that, no cap problems. Its teams paying mediocre blah and blah players high coin and putting them selves near cap, now thats what ya call HELL.
- Buck Norris

Right?

Cap hell is overpaying for aging FAs to too much term/dollars; cap hell is paying your 4th liners 2-3M a year.

hilarious...when pronounced quickly with the emphasis on the second word - in German slang its an expression used by metrosexuals describing something that's "hot"

To be fair, Marleau and Zaitsev put you in cap jeopardy. I wouldn't say cap hell. Dubas did a good job offloading both of them, even if it cost you a first to send Marleau packing.

My groin is all tingly from this.

Haterz rejoiced at the fact that Toronto was not going to be able to keep all it's young guns. July 1st, 2019 was going to be the day of reckoning.

CAP HELL!

OFFER SHEETS!

BLOW IT UP!

And now that none of it has happened, do these tiny richards come on here to post a mea culpa or two?

No. It's the second franking week of July, and they are already posting the exact same poop about next year.

Why this weird, unhealthy obsession with the Leafs?

Franking sad.

Franking hilarious.

Dubas' long term success will be measured by his bold stroke in signing of Tavares. This will be the critical year. The second guessers will start chattering if the defence comes up short again and the Leafs struggle in their own end. I expect for the Leafs to start the season strong. But, let's see what comes in the second half of the season and in the playoffs.

Almost certain the Leafs will face Tampa or Boston in the first round of playoffs. Does anybody expect outcomes to be any different based on the look of the Leafs' defensive corps?

No totally, those were bad moves. Lou's moves. Zaitsev did not need that much term (cap hit wasn't terrible) and Marleau was a year too long.

It's like Hayes was saying on the radio the other day. A lot of people out there hate the Leafs, and yet they cannot get enough Leaf content.

In this thread, I think a lot of the haters enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by Leaf fans, receiving abuse whilst wearing their gimp costume. I think a lot of trolling is a gimp thing.

subtle point... the first paragraph is true... but its true only in the context of the internet/social media age... when mostly the Leafs stunk....

so the haters, particularly so with the Canuckleheads and the three people in Ottawa who claim to be Senturds fans it was allowing them to live in a world where they enjoy another team's foibles and failures... just as we enjoy the odd tidbit of garbage coming from those "fine" franchises.

that's why there isn't many haters around right now... after Dubas cleverly (although not without cost) got out of the CAP jam.

so they pivot to next year not being able to sign Barrie or whoever.

"the sky is falling..."

and then there's Dreger - who for some unknown reason is VERY VERY VERY quiet.

I'm still waiting for him to answer the question about the who the GMs were that were "preparing offers in excess of 12-13M$.... has anyone heard?

No, not really.
Thats bad cap management.

Cap hell is having to unload quality players for quality players on expiring contracts (but i like the deal).
Cap hell is having to move a 1st round pick to unload a 1 year bad contract.
Cap is having alot of great players but not enough cap space to pay them all.
Which the leafs were in.
Not so much right now.
Dubas did some good work imo

Based on what? You're just pulling random poop out of your ass because you don't like him. Did a pretty blonde boy steal your girlfriend in highschool? Are you secretly in love with him, a forbidden love that you can't fulfill?

pretty risky behavior for Paul "Darren Dreger" Marner - mom or Mitch to go on vacation where there are so many Offer Sheets coming...
