I have no problems with Gauthier and you may be right, but the haters are acting like we just signed Spezza to Andrew Ladd money/term.
- gravyface

are people actually critizicing the Spezza deal?
I think he's added for that fourth line to win faceoffs on his strong side (50-50 with Gauthier) and improve the PP.

Rangers don't have much to sign or any cap problems, the Stars had to make a decision on whether to keep Zuccarello and lose a first so instead signed Pavelski & Perry. They didn't qualify Brett Richie & bought out Valeri Nichushkin...not much in terms of RFAs outside of that (obviously let spezza go as a UFA). (frank) Ottawa.

I personally like to follow what the other teams are up to

That is nice.... some people are fans of hockey not just one individual team. Is that a crime? I'm a big Fantasy hockey guy, it pays off to know a lot about other teams and other teams have great players I like to watch. Do I require your permission to be a fan of hockey?

Debatable. Barrie and Gardiner to me seems like a lateral. I get Barrie produces but you really think the Avs trade Barrie and retain cap on him if he was such a good Dman? The D looks the same to me. Maybe I am wrong about him, time will tell. Cant say I have seen him play too often, usually in bed when Western teams play.

Third line also looks downgraded. Spezza is done. Kadri is a way better C than Spezza is now, when he isnt suspended of course. Personally I would slot AJ ahead of him.

its the Leafs... so when they sign a guy to a minimum contract it stops the NHL related news feeds.

Spezza signs $700K( 1 year) contract - Leafs overpay declining veteran
Stralman signs $5.5M (3 year commitment) contract - awesome signing
Filppula signs $3M (2 year commitment) contract ...

Spezza doesn't replace Kadri - he replaces Gauthier.

Kerfoot replaces Kadri.

Odd that he conveniently forgot that Kerfoot was part of the trade.

Very, very odd.

- Atomic Wedgie

He's interested in discussing other NHL teams, that are based in Toronto.

I have not yet given him permission to do so, so I don't know what the F he is doing, and clearly, neither does he.

I think I should go to the filadelmia fighters thread and discuss, uh, stuff.

And one other random thought for the haterz:

- I don't want to sign Muzzin next year.

He'll be 31 - and expect a $7 million or more contract with plenty of term. Let other teams reward him for past performance. That one has "huge mistake in the making" written all over it.

- Atomic Wedgie

agreed.

Yup.
But blocked shots, played D and has a justin beiber'ish/millennial arm tattoo.

So...remove 3 laughing emojis.

- Fakepartofme

Curiously, Marner is credited with 2 Blocked Shots in that 7 game series. Nylander is credited with 4.

I think we all recall Marner's 2 blocked shots.

I wonder which shots Nylander blocked. Maybe the puck accidentally hit him on a carom or something.

no sense in posting lineups without any leafs players in them.
some of they guys will start to mock you when you say player x is very good, in particular at that contract).
(i.e. sorensen was the player i referenced to before)

Looking back, I probably should have listened to you guys and not bought that Paul Ranger 3rd jersey.

It's just that I already had the home and the away - I felt it was important to complete the set.

Context - it's all RFA years. Kucherov signed for 4.7 x 3.

I think we too often ignore the impact of UFA and the leverage it gives players. His biggest earning years will be after this 4 yr deal.

If MM did a 3 yr deal he 'should' be about 6-7 per season. On a 4 yr he's maybe 7-8.

Aho gets 8.5 bc they bought all his RFA years plus 1 UFA year. Those elite guys are leveraging those years as being 12+ milly per season given what the elite 27/28 yr old UFA's are signing for.
