Fixed and although a bit of a stretch, I like the enthusiasm. We have not seen his best hockey yet.

Interesting note. New Sabres assistant coach Don Granato was on the bench last year with Quenneville and has first hand knowledge of Hank Joker.
- TheSabresTaco

So Joker came highly recommended? Interesting

Marcus Johansson, Sam Reinhart, Ruotsoleinen, there are options.

Sure 2C is a huge weakness. But every team in the league has one or two giant holes, that's the nature of parody. The sabres didn't suck because Casey Middlestadt last year only had 13 goals, they sucked because 13 goals was actually one of the better forward tallies! They just need to build quality depth at forward, like they have at D. Next year, after I've lost a playoff series to Boston or Toronto and I sit back and think "2C is the matchup that killed us", then I can make a trade or something. For now, I just need less AHL or fringe caliber players on the team.

is this team going to outscore the leafs or bolts in a high scoring playoff series, nope

they can shut them down with a decent group of d men playing as a unit

Re-posting from earlier this morning. Do you make this trade?

Risto, Okposo and 2021 first round pick for [insert bag of beans]

Keep in mind that Toronto had to pay a first to get rid of one year of a bad contract. We're looking at multiple years left. We would essentially be buying 6 mill of cap space over that time.

This is one of the dumbest proposals I've ever seen.

Keep in mind Garth used to be the only Sabres blogger.

What is the point of the trade ? Giving up a potential lottery pick for nothing

Doesn't that muddy the waters even more if we add a young Konency at the pivot? That'd be Casey, Cozens, and him... so 2 of them could go to the wing?

I like Ehlers a lot... his speed is phenomenal if it was on jack's wing.

Ducks... I want Silfverberg in a BAD way.

- JVince11

Potentially adding him would give Casey sheltered minutes and Cozens can take his time although he’s a year or two away is the general thought.

Silfverburg isn’t their top target but you’re close

We have no cap issues this year and even fewer next year, so why would we throw away assets to get even more cap space?

Same reason Toronto gave up a first to get rid of Marleau. Cap space is the new currency in the NHL. As I said in the original post if it cost a first to get rid of Marleau then it will cost a lot more to get rid of Okposo.

Think of it another way - you're essentially acquiring more than 10 mill in cap space a year for the next several years.

You're right, but you could turn additional cap space into better players

Why would the Flyers have any interest in trading Konecny

How do you figure? Project the RFA's and we're working right around the max and it impacts every move we make. They may even have to tap into LTIR.

Well there is that. Doesn't hurt to have Chuck Fletcher in the big chair. We have plenty of vets to sell him. And apparently they're shopping for vets to keep their window open as long as possible. Giroux will be 32 midseason. Once Voracek and Giroux start showing their age, that forward group is going to be a rough bunch.

They’re in a decent spot now but once they sign a couple RFAs and have a few bigger paydays coming up with Hart and Patrick they will be needing room.
