It seems Nylander May have had a case of “Do you know who my dad is”
- ImThatGuy

Brendan Lemieux 2.0.

Someone on the Chicago side said that they think this was a case of 2 agents both asking their respective teams for a fresh start. Just not a fit any more. Sour grapes.

I could see this as plausible.

This is what I don't understand.... people keep putting Risto into trade scenarios but every time it is another winger coming back and NOT a center. So the problem is still there that everyone harps on daily.

I guess is the way that it will look long term with Casey at 2C or in your scenario was MarJo at 2C?

Surprised the Oilers didn't get in on the action with JP

3-way disgruntled prospect trade!

Sabres just need a lot more good players. Vesey, MoJo, Miller, Joker, it's a good start. For the life of me I don't get why this board is obsessed with 2C. We have a bunch of guys who can play it if need be. The point is we don't have near enough offense to be a good team, and a 25 goal wing helps a lot.

Honestly I think that JP's value is incredibly low. He has a lot of negatives working against him including having played what 50 NHL games on lines with McDavid and Draistail and STILL not produce. PLUS he has the whole.. take my ball and go to Russia or whatever it was.

Getting closer.
I'm told all the significant trades occur between now and October 1st.
It's early on July 10th.

25 goal wing doesn't get 25 goals without a good center and Mitts is not that, they learned from last year.

He's gonna have to play C or RW in all likelihood.

I think Sheary could be a wildcard to be flipped with McCabe or Risto to bring in a true RW or maybe center, hopefully one that's at least 2nd line caliber

Skinner, VO and Vesey is fine for the left side, so why ask Sheary to switch positions when you can flip him and include him in a deal?

Wild guess, I know, but our current possibilities at 2C right now had 29 points (Erod) and 25 points (Mitts) last year. Don't think that's gonna cut it for a playoff team....

They threw him to the wolves as a 19 year old. I think the Sabres learned that it was not ideal and Housley was too dumb to make the adjustments to help him. All I heard is that Housley wanted him to be some defensive center and it is just NOT Casey's game at all.

I've heard that Casey has been training his butt off... spent portions in Buffalo with their staff too. I really hope that Ralph lets Casey just play his game and he might be a big jump candidate. I was watching Casey's college, WJC, etc clips and I was just salivating. Casey is talented as HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. Just needs confidence.

I was listening to Ryan Kennedy when he was on the WGR morning show.

He was saying that the Kadri deal shows how slim the market is for a true/established 2C.

Colorado retained salary on Barrie to ensure that they could get the deal done.

Marcus Johansson, Sam Reinhart, Ruotsoleinen, there are options.

Sure 2C is a huge weakness. But every team in the league has one or two giant holes, that's the nature of parody. The sabres didn't suck because Casey Middlestadt last year only had 13 goals, they sucked because 13 goals was actually one of the better forward tallies! They just need to build quality depth at forward, like they have at D. Next year, after I've lost a playoff series to Boston or Toronto and I sit back and think "2C is the matchup that killed us", then I can make a trade or something. For now, I just need less AHL or fringe caliber players on the team.

His agent is also not helping him. His agent has been non stop with female doging and complaining about his client.

I think we occupy a different marketplace. We're not looking for a long-term answer. We're looking for a stop-gap or an insurance policy in case Mitts doesn't improve this summer, or to hold us off potentially for one more year if Mittelstadt doesn't improve, until Cozens comes in.

I also think a good RW would help as much as a 2C

Skinner-Eichel-??
Olofsson-Mitts-Reinhart
Vesey-Erod-Mojo

That ? doesn't have to be an actual 1RW, it just has to be someone who wouldn't look like an idiot playing there. No to Sheary playing there

That's a really good point.

I have a weird feeling they are gonna do everything possible to get that 2nd line scoring going hard.

Vesey/VO - Jack - Sam
Skinner - Casey - MJ

Is gonna happen quite a bit.
