Ran into the hawks 2017 draft video a few years ago. Worth watching, if you haven't seen it.

This is going to be the inverse Hall/Larsson trade. I still cant believe it.
- Mentalorgasm5

He’s going to be a top 4 NHLer.

If he reaches his potential he’s a top 2 defenseman.

Nylander has to be a top 6 NHL winger or he’s nothing more than Jody Gage.

That said imo Nylander has the higher ceiling. This a boom or bust deal for Chicago but they did turn around Stromes career if he continues the way he seems to be trending.

All and all I think this is a great move for Buffalo regardless of what Nylander does.

Yup imo they’re going to move 2 of McCabe, Scandella, Bogo, or Hunwick.

The other 2 are gone by the deadline.

Botterill's acquisitions are Montour, Miller and Jokiharu. All RHD, and depending on your point of view, all NHL ready. Bogo seems largely immovable and will remain as an extra RHD. It sure looks like Risto is leaving to me. But I am just an idiot on the internet

I think this higher ceiling talk is nonsense. Alex hasn't shown a glimpse of that kind of potential in 3 years.

He has the higher potential.

The questions become can he reach it and can Chicago do for him what they did for Strome?

To me, it doesn't matter what Alex Nylander does.

If Jokiharju pans out to his potential, we've got at least a top 4 and possibly a #2 Dman for a decade. That is a win, no matter what happens.

Strome is going to fall hard this year. He had a ridiculous shooting percentage last year.

You said you think Henri has top pair potential. Alex does not have elite top line potential.

Who also shoots right and is much harder to find then a middle 6 winger. Although at this rate Botts is making look quite easy.

Agreed. I'm still shocked that this actually happened. It's an absolute steal.

What did Chicago do to develop him? They traded for him and inserted him in their lineup.

Actually he does(speed, shot), it’s just can he put it all together.

The fans reaction to Nylander (in general) is of a failed draft pick.

I feel it’s another in a long list for poor player management(former management mind you)

Chicago obviously feels that they can get his full potential out of him.

Hope the best for him.

They put him in a better position to succeed.

It’s called proper player management.
