Teams are apparently concerned with his back issues. - Feds91Stammer
Thanks. I haven't heard anything. So definitely holding out on the term. If someone snags him cheaply on a short deal I will be a little upset. |

Buyout Gudbranson

2x2m for Pettersson
2x950k for Blueger
2x950k for ZAR
2x2.5m for Hutton |

Sure, it’s a risk but it’s a risk I’m willing to take because I don’t care about those prospects and don’t expect them to make an impact before the window of Geno/Sid get smaller and less likely to make a deep run.
I’d prefer the risk of loading up the forwards with Gusev and shipping out JJ or Gudbranson as cap dumps, which would also be addition by subtraction. Moving JJ/Guddy+1st+Prospect for Gusev makes the team better for the next 2-3 years and that’s what I’m all for. - j.boyd919
If we trade Gudbranson, a first, and a top prospect for Gusev and he turns out to be Conor Sheary (a finesse 40-50 point winger that Sullivan doesn't like) does that make us better? No, and I'm sure there will be many laughing at Rutherford for it.
If he turns out to be an 80 point guy and a PP catalyst, sure it makes us better.
But wouldn't it be a safer bet to trade some combo of those assets Rust/1st/top prospect to get Zucker?

Thought I heard someplace his camp was looking at 7.5+ mil and 6+years and teams want either less term or a bit lower hit.
I'm sure it won't be long till he signs and we all female dog about how JR could have got him. - Guile
I have it waiting in the hopper already |

If we trade JJ and Rust... no need to buyout Gudds. |

To get Hutton aka an improvement and maintain cap flexibility for rentals at the deadline you need to. |
|
|
|
Why? - Feds91Stammer
The Pens would never do that.
And if traded, now you basically have to sign Hutton or Del Zotto or the like and they could be looking at $3M so its barely a savings and maybe a downgrade in player. |
|
|
|
There was a rumor with JJ and LAK. I would think maybe if we retain maybe 10% and send them maybe ZAR and a 1st they would send us a late pick in return
With DJ smith coaching in OTT it opens up the possibility of him valuing a guy like JJ but he already got Zaitsev and I think Hainsey, right? They have so many good young defenders. Unless the price is right I think they’ll let the kids play |

Yes it does because Gudbranson sucks.

Did everyone else know Tanev got a modified no trade clause in his deal? Am I just finding this out now? |

Contractually it is a 10 team no trade list.
In reality it's a 31 team no trade list. |

It was reported that MN no longer wants to move Zucker for a RW after getting Zucc |

Would you guys rather have Tanev, Bonino, or Hagelin?
Two part question:
1.) answer irrespective of contracts
2.) with factoring in current contracts |

But at least I saw good things....a stretch of great games and good smart sound decisions and plays. I cant say Ive ever seen that from JJ...and JJ had much more time in a Pens jersey last year.
So when it comes to sh!t d-men I'll take Gud over JJ, even if he is a bit more expensive. |
