Does no one consider if you offer sheet marner and he gets hurt that you are completely sh!t out of luck...
I still think if you traded 2 1st round picks and a few players you could get a really good player who's cap is under 10 mill
I would give 2 firsts, pulock and sorokin for patty kane and his 10.5 mil cap hit |

Whole lotta smoke if there is no fire. Maybe Marner's agent is using Lou to get more $$ but My guess is Lou has definitely made some kind of offer to him.. when guys like Staple, Dregger, and Mackenzie talking about it.. something is there. - niteislander
If an offer sheet were made it would be public as to whether he signed it or not by now. Yeah Marner has the leverage now and Dubas is under the gun to get something hammered out under the threat of an offer sheet but Marner and has agent tempered that a bit by saying they were looking for a three year deal all but eliminating the idea of an offer sheet. Can’t see it happening. |

Sure but Lameriello hasn’t made a trade yet since becoming our gm so color me a skeptic on this happening 😂 |

In general I am more comfortable with a 7 year contract on a 22 year old kid who is still just getting going in the NHL ... instead of a 30 + ufa.
As far as the Kane trade.. I don't think they would do it and I am not sure I would want to make that trade. |

Pulock should be the last player put in any trade proposal😂
Plus I think that trade would make signing Varlamov to a four year 20 million dollar contract even more maddening for me😂 |

For people saying it's "Perfect " revenge signing Marner, uh no it's not. Leafs signed a UFA and gave up 0 assets. Marner will cost more $ than Tavares and will come with 4 1st rounders. That's hardly the same thing and revenge.
I keep reading this and it's a terrible analogy.

BTW, at what point after a year of offersheet Marner talk and a week after Aho got one do people start thinking this entire talk is pure b.s?
Islanders have spent most of their money. They would have done it already. |

Kinda like all the Toronto idiots trying to say Leonard going to LA is the same thing or even close to JT. ... only JT didn't win sht and Kawai never said over and over again he was not going to leave. (could care less if I spelled his name wrong.. NBA sux)

I'd offer sheet Conner and see if WPG would rather consider a trade or maybe trade off Laine. If both want big money I think it will be rough to fit both under |

Which if true might mean he might really wants out of Toronto. If not why wouldn't he agree to a 7 year deal? only way that makes sens is he is worried Toronto matches it and then he is stuck as second fiddle to Matthews/JT. I can't think of another reason for him to want only 3 years if you are talking about that much money. Does he think the cap is going to go up that much more? .. just curious why everyone thinks he would ask for that short of term. |

Basketball is a different sport. 1 star can't win it all in NHL.
The difference is, Toronto fans won't be idiots and throw things at Leonard when he returns and call him names. |

Not sure, but my guess would be that he wants to become a UFA a few years sooner? UFAs who are elite command the biggest and best contracts in the NHL. Plus, they are in complete control of where they end up playing.........just in case they slept in one team's bedsheets as a youngster... |

Because no RFAs will sign 7 years. When Rantanen signs for 5 would you say the same thing? |

Not sure how you can't see the "revenge factor".. they moved on from Lou and then signed the team he went to Captain a month later. That isn't very hard to figure out. My 9 year old talked about it when the offer sheet rumors were out there last week. Maybe sit down with a pen and paper and write it down for yourself.
The Leafs will not be RFAing anyone with those contracts. You have all but 1 D-man as a UFA next year. If you think anyone would hesitate RFA ing Barzal anyway you are nuts.
Tavares went to where he got the most money via Tax Breaks in Canada on signing bonuses. He did so after preaching for years that he was not leaving.

Again, Leafs did not fire Lou. He was brought in to help the leafs rebuild and mentor Dubas (Hunter was head of scouting but also began to show promise of future GM). Lou’s contract with the leafs stipulated that he would be GM for 3 years then transition to a senior advisor role. Shanahan stuck to that agreement. Lou had a job with the leafs but chose to go to the Isles. Therefore there is ZERO revenge motive for Lou against the Leafs.
Tavares chose one of the 4-5 teams courting him. Be upset at Tavares if you must. If you’re juvenile enough maybe you want to see him fail too but again you’re seeking you’re revenge against JT not the Leafs. Somehow your logic suggests that the Isles never sign any UFAs.
I can understand 9yr olds having a hard time wrapping they’re heads around this....or maybe it’s difficult for all 5 members of Isles nation! |

That was disgraceful what happened with Tavares. Yes, I am going there. Nerds behind a keyboard are different than actually throing things at a guy. - RogerRoeper
I know it was sooooo terrible that an "Appreciation Day" was needed to lift up his spirits
But maybe you're right, the NY fanbase should have just threatened him, his wife and family, yeah def better off, oh btw its almost nap time, u getting ready?? |
