I really like Dunleavy actually. He's like a poor man's Jim Hughson, which sounds like a dis, but Hughson is great imo. He's not RJ and that's good. No one is RJ so don't try to be him

Like RJ's son? Remember that fiasco?

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY was worse than John Gurtler. How that guy still has speaking jobs is beyond me. He did bandits and public address for Bills too. He must be a good “company guy” or something because he’s a terrible talker. Also Rob Ray sucks at talking yet gets paid to talk.

You can also tell that RJ is starting to use the players' numbers as the basis for his identification - rather than their body posture and frame - because every now and again he'll only see one of the two digits on the uniform and he'll blow the call altogether.

"Eichel circles back to pick up the puck and brings it over the blue line. Oh, its Jake McCabe advancing it through the neutral zone and slides it into the offensive end."

- Der Kaiser

When he starts calling #19 Tim Connolly and #9 Derek Roy we're in trouble.

I thought he was done when he got stretchered out of there

As it stands this is how I have the roster setup.

Skinner - Eichel - VO
Johansson - xxxx - Reinhart
Vesey - Mitts - Sheary
Girg - Erod - Okposo
Larsson

Dahlin - Bogo
McCabe - Montour/Risto
Pilut/Hunwick - Miller
Nelson

No place for

Scandella

Sobodka
Wilson

- ImThatGuy

I did things for you. I'm starting to not like thrusting VO into a top line role, but even if he's there as a complimentary piece and scored 40ish, I'd call it a success.

Defense is tough. You have 4 starting RDs. Bogo was so much better than Risto with Dahlin. Plus, playing Risto more top line minutes is career suicide. Miller is not a first pairing dmen, and people need to stop with that poop. I'll loosen up a bit and say he's unproven against top line talent. He dominates average competition. Not that we'll trade for him, but we need a Jake Muzzin to play with Dahlin on the top pair. Risto needs to get us that 2C asset.

Is that accurate? I mean, I always wondered why Sylvester left and it was rebranded The Instigators. I thought it was more of a way to get the alum involved as I believe they work for the organization on that.

It wouldn't shock me if they didn't but I was unaware.

I don't know about that. Sylvester called him in on one of the first days of Hockey Hotline, and they both enjoyed it so much that he came on a couple times a week, then full time. It almost seemed like PSE wanted to move towards a true hockey show run by ex Sabres, and at the same time, Sylvester wanted to pursue other broadcasting opportunities, like his golf shows.

Botts has provided Krueger and staff many options no doubt.
He has done a very nice job plugging holes where he has, mostly on the 3rd line IMO.
Can Johansson play up on the 2nd, sure, but is that where he should be or is it a case of another player being asked to play up a level than where he is optimized? Same with Vesey.
They have taken very nice steps forward. They are not done, nor do I expect it all to be addressed in this offseason

- IonSabres

There's nothing wrong with MoJo on the 2nd line.

One of the first things I think about when I see all these lineup projections is who is going to play tough D minutes against top lines? Is ERod really that guy? I certainly don't think so. Love it or hate it, Larsson still makes sense as 4C.

I have the lines as the same. If they make no more moves, Larsson slides into 4th line duty, and Erod and Mitts move up a line as well.

That 4th line can be heavily churned. As long as Sobotka isn't included.

Don't hit the red button. But if you have to hit the red button, CM pops out and plays 2C this season. Please don't hit the red button.

Mostly, and especially black.

Green CAN be ok in very specific scenarios, including unpickled.

This is not a drama-filled conclusion, hence, you're wrong, and you're not Cole Caufield.

Agreed.

Too many occasions where you can hear him stretching to squeeze in game prep or using phrases you know he dreamed up during the day, instead of just letting the call come to him conversationally.

The Eichel Tower? It feels forced.

I know RJ has corny BS, too, but when RJ does it, it feels natural from a corny old man. Dunleavy just feels like he's working too hard at it.
