Back when Empire Sports was on, I loved watching him and Robie on the post game shows.

Is that accurate? I mean, I always wondered why Sylvester left and it was rebranded The Instigators. I thought it was more of a way to get the alum involved as I believe they work for the organization on that.

It wouldn't shock me if they didn't but I was unaware.

Just to be clear, I don't know it to be true at all. That was just my impression

Good post

So we have our 1rw on the roster ?

Or need to upgrade?

Goaloffson or Johansson

- Boss34

Botts has provided Krueger and staff many options no doubt.
He has done a very nice job plugging holes where he has, mostly on the 3rd line IMO.
Can Johansson play up on the 2nd, sure, but is that where he should be or is it a case of another player being asked to play up a level than where he is optimized? Same with Vesey.
They have taken very nice steps forward. They are not done, nor do I expect it all to be addressed in this offseason

I thought he was pissed he didnt get the play by play.

I never felt good about Sylvester doing play by play. I think Dunleavy does a better job.

It's off season, I think in terms of the depth chart, not the actual lines. Sam's the 1RW, but I really want to see him full-time on the 2nd line. I don't see Olofsson being asked to switch sides in his first NHL season. Johansson is a definite possibility and probably gets first shot in the pre-season. I believe Vesey has played a significant amount of RW, so you'd have to think he gets a look too. It will work itself out.

I think our boy RJ really declined quite a bit last season. He was constantly calling the wrong name of players, seemed to hit hard mid-season or so and got worse as the season progressed.

Don't really think either of them are NHL caliber. Really hope they go outside the org when the time comes for the next full time guy....but they won't.

Reminded me of Van Miller’s last few years. He’d be all “and it’s caught down there”! Then you’d here public address announcer low key say “caught by Eric mounds” and Van would scream right after “it was Eric mounds down there”! Sad.

I think once it became clear that Peters could both host and commentate that Sylvester was no longer needed.

He changed the pronunciation of Elie (eelie, Ellie) constantly and the opposing players got some really weird pronunciations. Can't think of any more offf the top of my head but you're right

It wasn't in the same hemisphere as Miller's last year or two. He was so bad that Murph was bailing him out on most every play. I remember the one where he shouted "touchdown Bills" as the ball was going back the other way on an interception.

the time has come.. RJ should retire. I don't think Dan is all that bad, there are worse guys calling games in the NHL

I’m not comparing the 2, just their similar dive from competent to meh. RJ used to be on top of EVERYTHING but he’s really slowed down, and misses a lot. Takes speaking breaks too which he NEVER did.

I really like Dunleavy actually. He's like a poor man's Jim Hughson, which sounds like a dis, but Hughson is great imo. He's not RJ and that's good. No one is RJ so don't try to be him

Dan is a rebound GF. He's ok, but we deserve better.

Yeah I agree, I thought Sylvester was horrible. Was relieved when I heard Dunleavy come here and do a few games.

You can also tell that RJ is starting to use the players' numbers as the basis for his identification - rather than their body posture and frame - because every now and again he'll only see one of the two digits on the uniform and he'll blow the call altogether.

"Eichel circles back to pick up the puck and brings it over the blue line. Oh, its Jake McCabe advancing it through the neutral zone and slides it into the offensive end."
