A speedy playmaker LW for EP/BB. High IQ a must to compliment Petey. Your lines look realistic & still Lockwood & Lind to figure in maybe.
- Nighthawk

I don't think you need a playmaker, but i do think speed is important. You need a hockey player, one that can attack first and foremost.

EP is the playmaker on that line, but he can snipe so you have to guard him. I think a guy that can shoot and help get the puck back at both ends of the ice is ideal. I don't want a pass first guy, but a someone who can find the soft spots.

That’s generalizing & maybe 10-12 teams pick well in the 1st 2 rounds imo. The Boeser draft was solid picking late.

Are you still wanting to trade a 1st for Hayes?

I’m not thinking an Oates type playmaker but more like a Barzal. Another threat that can enter the zone & wreak havoc on their D. Bo’s line would be built differently.

I could see JB making a play for Taylor Hall if he becomes available.

That’s a good fit but goddamn pricey. Also concerned with his injury history. Kyle Connor OS $8.4m if we could get TBL to take our 2021 1st in a minor trade to insure that. The guy that beat out Boeser for the Hobey.
1st 2nd 3rd or JV/Sutter/Tanev for Connor maybe more idk

Holy (frank) I just read James Tanner on Editor in Leaf. I didn't even know that place existed until I searched Marner because I read he had an offer sheet on the table that he hadn't signed.

He's even funnier there. The guy can't be (frank)ing serious.

It is going to be great, when Marner signs an offer-sheet.

Pretty much every year I see at least our top 2 picks penciled into the top 6/ top four in 2 seasons.

Cassels, Subban, Cederholm..... the list goes on and on.

- golfingsince

None of those players were top 2 picks.......

It's not a 10 million dollar 4th line but a 7.5.

There will be a lot of people worried about FA's money.

No, I have a thing for creative players with high hockey IQs. Podkolzin hasn’t shown that IMO - but I admit he hasn’t really had an opportunity to... He played a max of like 14 or 15 games with each team he was on last year. Admittedly, extremely difficult to find chemistry with teammates & adjust to coaches systems/expectations in that short a period.

I love his compete level & of the 3 highly rated forwards I didn’t want (Caufield/Cozens being the others), he was the one I had the least problems with - ranked him in the late teens. I still think Hoglander has 1st line potential, and until Podkolzin shows me more vision/smarts, I think he’s a middle 6 high compete guy who will contribute secondary scoring. Love him for Bo. Highly doubt he ever meshes with Elias.

That's what I said, you and I have a different likes in prospects.

In 2yrs time from now that would be.
$7.5m now is less than 10% of the cap.
