Exactly, rick. Why pay a guy $11 million/year and give up 4 first round picks for only 3 years' benefits? Makes no sense.... And then there are the rumors that the Islanders were willing to pay $12.5 million/year.... Marner's demand for a 3-year deal effectively eliminates him from offer sheet consideration.

Now Laine could be a different story....

Maybe its laine, hes amazing at shooting and that's what the isles need. Barzal is such a possession monster and playmaker that laine literally needs to be hull to barzals Oates. we would get a huge boost too with laine in the ovie slot not bailey. Jets are tight to the cap and laine wants out so he would be more apt to sign as well

How am I a typical Leaf fan? I acknowledge that my team has been pathetic. You are clinging to not winning but being close years ago. Both our teams have sucked for decades and never won anything.

Rather surprised the Isles never made a pitch for JT. Would have solved a lot of problems one would think.

Not to get involved here, but the media in Toronto had the leafs hoisting the cup on July 2nd. That's what stirs the pot. But, real Leaf fans, knew the D was weak, and there were maybe 2 players with any playoff experience.
