All of Chucky’s goals from this past year. Most of his snipes are just inside the bar and he also gets goals in and around the net. Looking forward to him coming back to the city where he was drafted

Neal was notorious for not fighting after throwing a cheap shot. Now you’re just making poop up.

Do you want me to post all his career fights? So many less talented guys on the Pens than Neal with no career FM. You tink they care? Dey don’t care. Maybe Max Talbot, two secon lef.

Galchenyuk has all of the tools to be Genos Guentzel. It will be hard to get him PP time but Jake has been able to excel without the PP. Hoping Alex can be the same type of player.

Russian blood, speaks Russian, can snipe with cross ice passes.

Check all the boxes to play with GENO!

I think we did pretty well on this Phil trade tbh.

Chucky’s career scoring pace by season per Dobber sports starting with his rookie year:
46 (only 1 PPP)
39
47
56
59
51
47 in AZ

His linemates went from Radulov and Pacioretty to De La Rose, Drouin, and Lehkonen so it’s no surprise his ES scoring dropped. Then his center became Nick Cousins. QoT matters and it’s going to matter when he gets to Pitt. Who’s the better linemates: Cousins and Garland (27 and 31 point pace), Pacioretty and Radulov (68 and 58 point pace, Chucky had a 59 point pace that year), or Malkin (87 point pace in a ‘down year’) and say Rust (40 point pace)?

I also don’t see any reason to assume Chucky won’t see PP1 time in Pitt. Schultz has had 20 PPP once in his career and has 16 over his last 92 games. Chucky has had over 20 each of the past two seasons and was on pace for 20 the year before so a 20+ PPP pace for 3 straight years. After Phil, Tanger, Sid and Geno our next highest PP scorers had 12 and 11 points and they’re the net front guys. Clearly it’s between Schultz and Chucky. I could see either guy taking it

I haven’t been shy with my opinion. 40 ES points for Chucky and if he gets on PP1 I could see him getting 20+ PPP. For Phil I’ve got him around 35ES and 35 PPP playing with Keller and Stepan

Sullivan was asked in his post extension news conference about who he saw on that PP spot, and the first name he used was Guentzel. He just scored 40 and hasn't gotten a regular chance at PP time. Despite many posters putting him net front, any stats show there's a massive difference between having him or Hornqvist there.

Second name was Schultz. This allows the Pens to use Schultz up top, who is better at setting up Malkin for one timers, while still having Letang on the ice for breakouts. It also keeps a righty on that side an with 2 defensemen, would be considered safer for a team that leaked SHGs last year.

Galchenyuk was listed third. So it's fair to say don't assume he won't get that PP spot, but it's not the most likely option so you shouldn't count on it either.

Guentzel is good in front of the net, but I honestly don’t know if I’d want him there for every PP. I just wouldn’t want to see him take the constant physical abuse from being in front of the net. Let Hornqvist or Rust take that net front spot and let Malkin, Guentzel, Crosby, and Letang work around the outside.

Then your 2nd PP unit could be Galchenyuk, Bjugstad, McCann, Schultz, and either Rust/Hornqvist in front of the net

The questions I have for Ryan Wilson are:

1. Have you ever covered a professional sporting event with a press pass and a seat in the press box for a recognized media outlet and written on deadline? If you have, when and for what media outlet?

2. Have you ever interviewed Mike Sullivan, or Jim Rutherford, or any Penguins player, in a one-on-one setting?

3. Or do you sit at home, wherever that might be, look up stats and analytics, and spout opinions without any journalistic background, experience, or credibility as a beat writer for a professional team?

- MarioCrosby

3 irrelevant questions. Good job.

Driving back to DC right now... Need a solid trade idea with JJ. Thinking Anaheim is our best bet. JJ, Rust, 5th for s 4th.

How much lower of value do you think people see ZAR vs Rust? I don’t think it’s much. I like that trade.

Didnt Rust have like 1/3 of his G in 2 games last year and go like 30 games with nada?

I feel Rust has hit his ceiling and ZAR is a bit of an unknown since Wilson blew his face up. He was on pace for 16G. I just dont view either as that bad or that good. Middle of the road players.

Yeah, ZAR Hits a bit more than rust but is a bit more injury prone because of it. I’d give the edge to rust. If we shipped out both rust and JJ, think we make another splash in FA? Maybe add ZAR in the trade too for a 3rd instead and pick up Ferland?

IDK, no way of knowing. I would think MINN would still be interested in parting with Zucker. They are in total rebuild mode.

If they ship out JJ dont they still need another Dman?

Gardiner is a pipe dream. But JJ is SUCH an addition by subtraction. Who would Anaheim have that could part ways with. We have our top 4 pretty much set. What if we traded Schultz for Zucker and then signed Gardiner too? Lol Im getting out of hand.

I think there are a few options out there for cheap. Damn even Phaneuf on a 1 year deal would be decent value.

Not ready to part ways with Schultz. I also don’t think he deserves a raise from his already decent $5.5M value.

As for whom to trade, I’d go with ZAR attached to JJ...but I’m pretty sure the other team would throw in another roster player to this deal who hasn’t lived up to expectations.

I don't know that MIN is so much interested in parting with Zucker as Zucker may want out of MIN. When the Kessel deal fell through I remember reading that that this was the second time MIN accepted a trade for Zucker and it fell through, so he's aware they've attempted to move him twice. While these guys are professionals, I'm sure that has to irk him.

For sure. I’d imagine his price probably went up a bit too after the King Clancy Trophy.

Your incompetence knows no bounds, for RW never responds to our comments here since ages ago.

Also, you, the anonymous poster with a sadly blatant fanboy name, have no grounds to question anyone else for being an at home stat junkie.

Rust had such a weird year. 1 goal his first 29 games. Then 8 goals in 6 games. Then a consistent 9 goals in 37.

Minnesota has seemingly backed off trading Zucker since signing Zuccerello, but they still have an imbalance of too many natural LWs. Still think they'd make a deal for a RW.

But they aren't rebuilding yet. They should be, but the GM thinks they're still a playoff team.

They could make most of the room they'd need for Gardiner by trading Schultz. If you did that, you'd elevate Gudbranson to second pair and have Pettersson with Ruhwedel or if he's still here JJ on the third pair, unless another RD was brought in.

I can’t imagine moving Shultz if JJ is still on the roster. Seems like a step backwards in an already backward situation.

Their roster is brutal still. Z is 31 and was a dumb signing. They have Suter and Parise signed till they're 50. Not sure what they have in the system but no way they can get past the Avs, Blues, Preds, Stars, and Jets in that division. If they took Rust+JJ and a 1st+prospect they would be smart for Zucker. Nobody is taking Parise or Suter from them.
